2025 WSOP Schedule Released – Record Tournament Slate and Six New Events

The much-anticipated 2025 World Series of Poker schedule was finally released on Monday, February 17th. With GGPoker having recently bought WSOP for $500 million back in August, a number of big changes were to be expected.

The 56th-annual WSOP is taking place at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas Casinos from May 17 to July 16. A record 100 events are taking place, up from 99 in 2024.

If you know how to play Texas Hold’em or any other type of poker game, you have to be in Vegas for summer camp every year.

New Events

Six new events are on the schedule this year, most notably the $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha and the $25,000 NLH/PLO Mix. The $100K PLO event was a big hit at WSOP Paradise, attracting an incredible 88-entry field and a $2.1 million top prize.

A new $1,000 Battle of the Ages event will also take place beginning on June 22nd. Players over 50 years old will be able to register for Day 1A while Day 1B is for the younger generation. The fields merge on Day 2.

Thanks largely to popular mixed-games tournament player Allen Kessler, the $3,000 T.O.R.S.E. event will debut on Friday, July 11. T.O.R.S.E. is often preferred by mixed games specialists over H.O.R.S.E. as it removes the Hold’em element and replaces it with 2-7 Triple Draw.

The Double Board Bomb Pot event is returning, though they have removed the No-Limit Hold’em portion of the game. The $1,500 will be strictly PLO.

Finally, WSOP have added a $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty into the mix. These tournaments have been hugely popular as players attempt to win back their bankrolls in just a single day. This event joins their $1,000, $1,500, and $10,000 buy-in counterparts.

New WSOP 2025 Events

  • #14 $25,000 High Roller PLO/NLH Mixed (8-Handed)
  • #24 $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot (8 handed)
  • #59 $1,000 Battle of the Ages Over 50 / Under 50 No-Limit Hold’em (Flight A = Over 50, Flight B = Under 50)
  • #79 $100,000 HIGH ROLLER Pot-Limit Omaha
  • #87 $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em
  • #93 $3,000 T.O.R.S.E. (8-Handed)

Eliminated Events

Some of the more unpopular events have been removed from the schedule entirely. Most notably, the $1,000 Flip and Go won’t be returning. Many critics of the event claimed that it was very much gambling and that higher-skilled, higher-rolled players had a huge edge, as literally anyone could be in the field on Day 2.

Sure enough, super-pro Chance Kornuth won the event last year, outlasting the other 136 players who flipped their way in for a $155,446 top prize.

In addition, the $5,000-entry Champions Reunion is missing from the schedule. This was an event that debuted in 2024 and will likely not be coming back.

Not only did the Champions Reunion permit WSOP Main Event winners to enter the three-day freezeout for free, it put a $10,000 WSOP Main Event seat on each of their heads as a bounty. This removed a lot of money from the prize pool.

The $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event has also been replaced by the $3,000 T.O.R.S.E. tournament.

2025 WSOP Main Event

Fortunately, no changes were made to the WSOP Main Event. It will still be a $10,000 Freezeout with four starting flights. The WSOP Main Event will run from July 2nd to the 16th.

New Changes

With WSOP under new ownership (GGPoker), a number of changes are expected both on and off the felt. Small tweaks like making the $400 Colossus a $500 event will be seen all over the place.

GGPoker typically provides a better on-site experience, so some positive changes around the poker rooms, like enhanced dining experiences, may be seen.

Let’s take a look at all the changes, both positive and negative.

More Flights for Popular Events

A number of popular events will have more flights, including the $1,000 Mystery Millions. WSOP have moved the event up to make it the very first event of the series and have expanded it to five flights, up from four in 2024.

Higher Rake

There will also be rake increases at some buy-in levels. Unfortunately, it seems that they are taking a bigger percentage of the prize pool from mainly smaller buy-ins, though some of the bigger high rollers will see an increase as well.

For example, the $500 Industry Employees event (formerly the Casino Employees) will see rake go up from 16% in 2024 to 17%.

The $1,500s will see their rake increase from 11% in 2024 to 11.5%.

New Time Slots

While there will still be a number of 10am restarts, there are later time slots and flight times littered all over the schedule.

WSOP Online

The WSOP Online schedule has yet to be released. It’s unclear whether or not Pennsylvania will be included in MSIGA before WSOP begins.

While you wait for the schedule to be released, CoinPoker is putting on a bunch of exciting events, including their upcoming $250,000 GTD Carnival series.

WSOP Tournament of Champions

The annual $1 million freeroll has not been included in the WSOP schedule.

In 2024, WSOP waited until the end of March to announce that the event was taking place in Los Angeles just a few days before the beginning of WSOP.

No announcement has been made yet, though it’s rumored that will return to Los Angeles for the second consecutive year.
