New Jersey online casinos hit yet another milestone during the month of July, with the most recent revenue reports showing a record $39.3 million for casino and poker combined. Online casinos are responsible for the bulk of that, with $37,428,813 in revenue, while online poker still lags woefully behind with $1,885,918. This is NJ online casino news that only dreams are made of.
If the trend this summer continues, August will eclipse that record; however, many of the online casinos went on “vacation” during the month, meaning that they neglected to add any significant number of games, with several casinos not adding any new titles at all. NJ online casino news articles have been pumping out all summer.
Can’t say I blame them, with the sunshine and warm weather slowly leaving our midst, it’s nice to get a last little foray to the beach while we can.
Let’s take a look at the activity of each of the online casinos as we head toward fall.
Big adds
BetAmerica, one of the newest kids of the block only added five titles in July but went big in August with 18 new games. This includes five table games (baccarat, Baccarat Dragon Bonus, Blackjack Multi-Hand, Roulette Master Single Zero and Let It Ride) and 15 slot games. Among them are newer titles:
- Amazing Ripley’s
- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
- Da Vinci Diamonds Masterworks
- King of Macedonia
- Temple of Nudges
- Wild Fury Jackpots
- Wild Worlds
While seven additions isn’t typically a “big add,” this month it is, given the lowly performance of so many other NJ online casinos. Thus, DraftKings online casino ends up in this category. The seven new titles are:
- American roulette
- Blackjack
- Crazy Money II
- European Roulette
- Finn and the Swirly Spin
- Siberian Storm
- Wild Fury Jackpots
Our No. 1 casino, for the umpteenth month running, is Golden Nugget. Not only does it have more casino games than any other NJ online casino, but its revenue far and above exceeds that of all the rest. Golden Nugget is responsible for $14.9 million of that $39.3 total revenue figure mentioned above. Coming into September, it has 619 titles in the gaming library.
That’s actually a loss of eight games overall, but it added seven new titles, including three blackjack table games: Blackjack Blazing 7s, DJ Wild Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold ’em, and four new slot titles: Knight’s Keep, Red Roo, Sun Dragon Quick Hit Ultra Pays and Serengeti Lions Stellar Jackpots. You will now find 573 slot titles, nine blackjack variations, 18 video poker games and 18 table games at Golden Nugget.
Mohegan Sun lost its third-place title in August, dropping down to No. 4 with 578 games. While it only had a net gain of four, it added five new slots, two new table games and added three new Live Dealer VIP Blackjack tables. The newest of its 546 slots include Da Vinci Diamonds Masterworks, Tales of Hercules and Knight’s Keep, while it added Lightning Roulette and Ultimate Texas Hold’Em to bring their table games up to 12. It also has six blackjack and 14 video poker games.
Resorts, our No. 2 casino, now has to share that title with SugarHouse, which made some big moves this month. They both sit with 581 titles, but Resorts only had a net one addition to the gaming library; although, in reality, they added three new slots (Da Vinci Diamonds Masterworks, Tales of Hercules and Knight’s Keep), one new table game (Ultimate Texas Hold ’em) and three new Live Dealer VIP Blackjack tables.
Meanwhile, SugarHouse added nine slots and three card/table games to their library, matching the 581 games that Mohegan has. Its distribution of games is only slightly different with 549 slots, seven blackjack variations, 14 video poker and 11 table games. New to the site are:
- Double Ruby
- French Roulette
- Golden Wins
- Jade Wins
- La Bomba
- Monopoly $250K
- Multi-Hand Blackjack
- Quick Hit Super Wheel Wild Red
- Red Roo
- Slingo Wild Adventure
- Turn Your Fortune
- Ultimate Texas Hold ’em
Little Adds
Betfair actually had no net change in their game count; however, it seemed to have dropped three older titles to make room for three new ones: Fortunes of the Amazon, Panda Pow and Wild Worlds. Its gaming library stands at 395 with:
- 364 slots
- Eight blackjack options
- Nine video poker variations
- 14 table games
Sitting in the fifth overall position among all NJ online casinos is Caesars with 527 games. It was a net change in August of two games, but in actuality four games were added, meaning four must have been dropped. There is one table game, Ultimate Texas Hold ’em, and three slot titles:
- Knight’s Keep
- Serengeti Lions Stellar Jackpots
- Red Roo
Of those 527 games, Caesars has 496 slot titles, five blackjack variations, 14 video poker options and 12 table games.
Hard Rock added 108 new games to its casino in July, so it’s not surprising that it dialed it down a bit in August. There are four new titles available at the site, which now has 370 slots, two blackjack variations, five video poker and four table games for a total of 381. New to the site are:
- Casino Hold ’em
- Red Roo
- Serengeti Lions Stellar Jackpots
- Wild Catcher
Ocean’s online casino has been growing steadily this summer, with eight new games added in June, seven in July and another five in August. It now has 264 games, including 244 slots, four blackjack variations, six video poker and 10 table games. Its latest additions are:
- King’s Honour
- Knight’s Keep
- Let It Ride
- Red Roo
- Slingo Wild Adventure
No adds
888 Casino was very active in July, adding 30+ new titles. August was a different story, and it lost one slot title, leaving it with 223 slots, three blackjack variations, three video poker and seven table games, for a total of 236 titles.
Borgata’s online casino is in the same boat, adding nothing new in August after six new titles in July. It currently is in the sixth position overall with 423 games, including 401 slots, six blackjack variations, 12 video poker and seven table games.
No surprise that Harrah’s hasn’t added any new games. In fact, it’s been well over a year since it did so. It shuffles on with 103 titles.
Over at Pala’s online casino, there is a net loss of one game, with nothing new added since mid-June. (Guess Pala took the summer off.) It currently offers:
- 310 slots
- Four blackjack
- Nine video poker
- Eight table games
PlayMGM is currently in the No. 5 position among all NJ online casinos, also had no new adds after four newbies in July. It has a total of 437 titles in their gaming library, including 415 slots, five blackjack variations, 12 video poker and 12 table games.
Tropicana and sister site Virgin both remained at 249 and 243 games, respectively. Although Virgin’s casino appears to have dropped one title and added The 100,000 Pyramid. Both casinos have been slow to add games this year, staying the low-to-mid 200 range. But it doeshave some of the best promotions in the industry, which seems to help the bottom line.
