Global Poker Tournaments Give PA Players Cause To Celebrate This Weekend

With the sports calendar mostly on hiatus because of coronavirus, many will turn to online poker for gambling entertainment at home.

Global Poker is one option for playing in the US. The social gaming site has tournament action throughout the weekend and daily tournaments and ring games all week long.

In Pennsylvania, online poker players can play against people across the US and Canada at Global Poker. At PokerStars PA, the poker brand linked to the FOX Bet sportsbook, player pools consist of only players within PA borders.

Global Poker best tournaments of the weekend

This weekend is a busy one at the social gaming site, Global Poker. Saturday sees its regular slate of events with some extras added in. One is the Saturday Slash, a SC 22 buy-in deep-stacked event with a SC 6,000 guarantee.

Last week, Global added a low-stakes, high-reward event, a SC 22 buy-in with SC 10,000 guaranteed. The Sunday Spotzz, which begins at 4:15 p.m. ET, was such a success that the guarantee was raised to SC 15,000 this week.

Also running on Sunday are the biggest guaranteed events of the week. The Sunday Teaser and Sunday Scrimmage, at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively, boast guarantees of SC 25,000 and SC 50,000.

How the Global Poker sweepstakes model works

The Global Poker site operates on a sweepstakes model, which is why it is allowed in many states where regulated poker has not been passed. Players can purchase Gold Coins, a play-money currency, and receive Sweeps Coins (SC) along with them.

Sweeps Cash can then be used to buy into SC tournaments and prizes are distributed to the top finishers in SC currency. That currency can be cashed out as real money.

The site is available for players in the US and Canada, apart from Washington State and the province of Quebec.

Online poker could be one form of entertainment to keep you busy indoors during this unprecedented time. If you do choose to play, please do so responsibly and good luck at the tables.
