PokerStars SCOOP Scores Big in Southern Europe, Series Continues on International Site

The PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) came to a close on April 18 in Southern Europe. The series awarded €17.8 million to players in France, Spain, and Portugal.

SCOOP Southern Europe attracted plenty of action with 764,810 total entries across 360 events. The guaranteed prize pool received a nice bump as well, exceeding the original €15 million.

Spain takes SCOOP country competition title

This year’s series included a competition among the three countries served by the platform. The Battle of Countries leaderboard allowed each nation to battle for the top spot and some bragging rights.

In this inaugural event, Spanish players beat their French and Portuguese counterparts, securing the most points in SCOOP events.

Spaniards garnered more than 90,000 points, with French players close behind with more than 86,000 points. Portugal finished with just over 67,000.

Individually, “pepelurodri” topped the Battle of Countries leaderboard to win tournament money worth €10,000 and a trophy. “Nandito-1312” finished second and won €6,000 in tournament money with “josele83” taking third for €4,000.

SCOOP Southern Europe numbers and winners

Players turned out in force this year for SCOOP Southern Europe. Those stuck at home because of the Coronavirus pandemic may have been ready for more poker.

The €125 buy-in Main Event attracted 9,896 entries to award €1.1 million, beating its €1 million guarantee. “SleeepWalker13” took down the title for €94,967.

As part of the series, PokerStars also held 10 major championship events. All were priced at €250 and awarded SCOOP trophies to winners. In total, these events awarded more than €1 million.

SCOOP continues on PokerStars international platform and Pennsylvania in US
