WSOP Weekly: Another Brazilian Scores Gold Bracelet; Overall Numbers Staying Strong

Two weeks are in the books in the World Series of Poker Online at GGPoker. The international multi-day bracelet events continue to be dominated by Brazilian players.

This past week included turbo events, big-buy in tournaments and Pot Limit Omaha poker. In lieu of the annual WSOP in Las Vegas each summer, the online site is hosting 33 bracelet events through Sept. 12.

Event 8: $5,000 Six-Max Championship (Aug. 10)

German poker pro Daniel Smiljkovic won this event last Tuesday. Smiljkovic won $423,426 for first place and his first gold bracelet. The event drew 479 entries and a prize pool of over $2.2 million. 

Chinese high roller Xuming “Scplayer” Qi finished in second place for $306,145. The final table included some elite talent and included George Wolff, Marius Gierse, and Aki “Seabossss” Virtanen.

Event 9: $525 Superstack Turbo Bounty (Aug. 12)

In one of the shortest GGPoker bracelet events to date, Brazilian player Lucio “”WizardofAz” Lima took down his first gold bracelet in nine hours.

Lima certainly used some wizardry to overcome a final table that included former bracelet winner Anson TsangFirst place paid $95,205 for the victory.

Lima overcame a field of 2,229 entries, which built a prize pool of $1.1 million including bounties.

Event 10: $400 Double Chance PLO (Aug. 14)

After two days of play, Hungary’s Roland “Quina Quen” Czika took down his first gold bracelet and $55,369. The Pot Limit Omaha tournament started on Saturday night and played Day 2 on Sunday night. The prize pool reached $366,600 with 975 entries. 

Players such as Daniel Negreanu continue to live stream a lot of their action nightly. Fans can observe the game and interact with the feed through chat. 

 

Upcoming GGPoker WSOP bracelet events

GGPoker will offer multiple tournament and game types over the next few days. That includes PLO, a heads-up event, and a high roller

The major guarantees also continue in the coming week. Here’s a look at what to watch for:

  • $10,000 SuperMillions High Roller (Event 11, Aug. 15) – $5 million guaranteed
  • $1,000 Double Stack (Event 12, Aug 15) – $4 million guaranteed
  • $5,000 PLO Championship (Event 13, Aug 17) 
  • $500 NLHE BIG 500 (Event 14, Aug 19)
  • $10,000 NLHE Heads-up Championship (Event 15, Aug 20)

Update on PokerScout team selections

The poker team at PokerScout recently made picks of players to watch this summer at GGPoker.  Content manager Valerie Cross has taken an early lead thanks to some nice scores from Ajay Charba.

Contributing writer Anthony Cicali and site runner/editor Sean Chaffin sit about $30,000 behind. Here’s a look at the standings after two weeks.
