WSOP Weekly: Erik Seidel Scores Ninth WSOP Bracelet; Brazilian Dominance Continues

Poker legend Erik Seidel showed he’s still a force to be dealt with last week, collecting his ninth bracelet in the World Series of Poker Online at GGPoker.

The site is hosting 33 bracelet events and that continues through Sept. 12. Once again, Brazilians continue to shine in the series.

The last week also saw a deep run by Daniel Negreanu and a winner share his own win view a unique GGPoker feature.

Event 11: $10,000 High Roller (Aug. 15)

After multiple days of play, Poker Hall of Fame member Erik Seidel took down this event for $977,842. He now moves into a tie the legendary Johnny Moss for nine WSOP bracelets.

Seidel overcame Uruguay’s Francisco Benitez heads up to take the title. He also joined the exclusive club of players with a live and online bracelet. 

The event saw 624 entries and created a prize pool of over $6 million. Seidel finished Day 1 seventh in chips and then dominated play on Day 2 to earn the gold. After the event, Seidel went on Twitter to express his thanks for receiving some big support. 

 

Event 12: $1,000 NLHE Double Stack  (Aug. 15)

Hong Kong’s  Hinojas “POLALIFE!” Jerome took the bracelet in this massive field event. Jerome won $635,576 and stopped Brazilian pro Felipe Ramos in the heads-up battle.

Brazilian pros have dominated the GG series so far and Ramos took $476,612 for second.

This event guaranteed a prize pool of $4 million, with the double stack action crushing that. The tournament scored a total prize pool of more than $5.5 million from 5,894 entries.

Event 13: $5,000 PLO Championship  (Aug. 17)

The Pot Limit Omaha tournament attracted 267 entries and created a prize pool over $1.2 million. At the end of Day 2, Lithuania’s Vincas Tamasauskas took the gold and $268,926.

Tamasauskas defeated Ben Lakatos of Hungary heads up. Lakatos settled for $194,439 as runner-up. Daniel Negreanu had a deep run as well, finishing 19th.

Event 14: $500 BIG 500 (Aug 19)

Brazil continues to be a force as the country snagged another piece of hardware over the last week. Renan Bruschi captured his first bracelet on Friday.

The Brazilian rounder won $150,327 after topping a field of 2,639 entries. That number created a total prize pool of more than $1.2 million

Bruschi was the highlight of the final table, keeping viewers entertained on GGPoker’s SnapCam. He was seen singing and dancing as he climbed the leaderboard.  

According to the GGPoker website, Snapcam is a 15-second recording that allows players to “use your camera to express yourself while you play. GGPoker’s SnapCam feature allows you to share your excitement of winning a big pot or disappointment at missing all your outs with your table mates!”

Upcoming GGPoker WSOP bracelet events

GGPoker will offer multiple tournament and game types over the next few days. That includes PLO, a heads-up event, and a high roller. 

The major guarantees also continue in the coming week. Here’s a look at what to watch for:

  • $10,000 Heads-Up Championship (Event 15, Aug. 21)
  • $1,050 GGMasters High Roller (Event 16, Aug. 22) – $2 million guaranteed
  • $400 PLOSSUS (Event 17, Aug. 22) – $1 million guaranteed
  • $5,000 Short Deck Championship (Event 18, Aug. 24)
  • $840 NLHE Bounty Six-Max (Event 19, Aug. 26)
