Second Million Dollar Pot on High Stakes Poker Season 14

High Stakes Poker had another massive night of action on Monday with tons of big pots. But the highlight of the night was yet another seven-figure pot.

Following Alan Keating’s record-setting $1.4 million pot a few weeks ago, the second-largest pot in the show’s history will be held on Monday for $1,008,500.

The seven-figure hand was contested between HSP regular Rick Salomon, a player who certainly knows how to play cash games, and Monkey Tilt online sportsbook founder Sam Kiki, a new player in this lineup. As usual, with these huge hands, the action came at the very end of the night’s session.

Keating, who is always getting involved in notable hands, lit the fuse of this hand by raising with Q5, which Salomon three-bet to 20,000 with the A3. Peter Wang was also involved in this hand as he just flatted the three-bet holding QQ. Kiki had a monster holding as well with the AK. Salomon jammed all in, coving the others. Peter laid down his queens and Kiki called for his remaining $492,000 to create the over $1 million pot.

They agreed to run the board twice with Kiki holding the dominating lead. The first board, 84A34, nearly gave Salomon the win as he spiked his three on the turn. However, he was counterfeited on the river with a board-pairing four.

The second board was a more subdued [invalid notations] to make Kiki’s ace-king the clear winner, giving him the full $1,008,500.

Wang’s decision to fold his pocket queens, which Keating seemed astounded by, kept this hand from creating the largest pot in HSP history as a three-way all in in this spot would have made for a pot of over $1.5 million.
