Shannon Shorr captured the 2025 US Poker Open crown after he won his second title of the series on Thursday. Shorr had won Event #5: $10,100 NLH for $220,400 just a few days ago. But this win on Thursday topped that one with a massive $529,250 first-place prize.
After some impressive performances from many players, including the Foxen power couple, Shorr ended up having the last laugh with the overall series title.
Event #8 had a $25,200 buy-in and garnered 73 entries, creating big numbers up top in the series finale. The final table consisted of some big names, including a final four featuring Shorr, Nick Petrangelo, Landon Tice, and Nacho Barbero.
Shorr took advantage of his position to make his move at the final table, with the final four being a very balanced battle, with each player going up and down before Petrangelo and Tice went out in 4th and 3rd, respectively.
Shorr went head-to-head against Barbero for a heads-up battle worth nearly $200,000 and the overall series title. The two began almost even in chips, but Shorr took victory fairly quickly after Barbero made an incorrect call against Shorr’s two-pair.
Taking the Golden Eagle Trophy
Shorr was named USPO player of the series thanks to this win. His 538 points beat out runner-up Matthew Wantman with 512 points and Barbero, who finished some distance behind in 3rd place with 402 points.
For his efforts he received the beautiful golden eagle trophy, which is no doubt one of the coolest trophies in poker.
Overall, it has been a very successful 2025 season for Shorr thus far, particularly over the past month.
This win was Shorr’s third victory in the span of three weeks. In addition to the aforementioned win in USPO Event #5, he also won his first WSOP circuit ring at the Horseshoe in Vegas. In total the three wins totaled $957,265. Those wins plus other results in that span, mean that he has won over $1 million in just three weeks.
The Alabama native now has $15.6 million in career earnings and continues to rise up the ranks amongst poker’s greats.
