Belgium Becomes Latest Market for GGPoker Expansion, Platform Set To Launch July 31

GGPoker continues to grow and announced an expansion into the Belgian regulated market beginning on July 31.

GGPoker continues to grow and announced an expansion into the European regulated market on Tuesday. The company is launching into Belgium and players in the country can begin signing up and playing on July 31.

The move makes GGPoker a locally licensed online gaming site. The country becomes just the latest to join the GGPoker Network. The platform remains one of the fastest-growing poker sites and even recently overtook PokerStars as the top spot for cash game players.

Details of the launch in Belgium

GG’s Belgian operation will be run by Deba Square, a company licensed and regulated by the Belgian Gaming Commission.

The Concept Booth company has also partnered to market the platform in the country and engage with poker fans. Concept is a grassroots Belgian company that operates poker clubs and events in the country.

With the launch, Belgian players can win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet for the first time. The WSOP Online series runs from Aug. 1 to Sept. 12 with 33 gold bracelets on the line for international players.

As part of the series, Belgian players can also qualify for the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.

What to expect from GGPoker

GGPoker in Belgium will offer a fully localized experience of the platform’s software. That includes customer assistance in the local language with responsible gaming and customer protection features as required by Belgian regulators.

“We’re happy to bring our poker product and innovation to the underserved Belgian market,” GGPoker head of Europe Marco Trucco said in a news release.

“Our partnership with a local company run by experienced poker event organizers is a statement of how we like to make GGPoker relevant and successful in a new market: connecting with people and genuine communities who share our passion for poker.”

Concept Booth organizers expressed their excitement with the launch as well.

“We are delighted to partner with GGPoker in Belgium,” company founder Kristof De Deken said. “Our company has been active in live and online poker for many years. The Belgian market is more than ready to welcome a new and attractive online poker provider, especially a provider breathing poker in every meaning of the word.

“We are confident that the entire Belgian poker industry will become stronger and more appealing for the players. A safe and controlled player environment, a premium user experience and local integration will be the highlights of the GGPoker brand.”

PokerStars Roundup: Wheeling Into Formula 1, WCOOP Dates Announced, BSOP Sets Records

PokerStars recently announced a new Formula 1 racing partnership as well as the dates and guarantee for the upcoming WCOOP series.

While it may be synonymous with poker, PokerStars will now become a regular part of Formula 1 racing. The company recently announced a deal that will see the brand highlighted on European broadcasts of the open-wheel racing circuit.

Beyond that deal, Stars also announced the official dates for the 2021 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The news comes after the series recently announced the MicroMillions series in several markets.

The Brazilian Series of Poker also recently wrapped up and scored a record turnout. Here’s a look at some of the items making news at PokerStars.

PokerStars gets the green flag in F1 deal

Flutter International, the owner of PokerStars, announced a new deal this week with Interregional Sports Group (ISG) and Formula 1. The partnership will see the PokerStars brand featured exclusively throughout the European broadcast market for each season through 2023

ISG is a global leader in using virtual advertising technologies to help brands target specific regional sports fans.

Company officials believe combining Stars’ worldwide appeal and this targeted approach make this an exciting partnership for both brands. That could lead to further innovation in the future.

“Working with Formula 1 provides us with the opportunity to reach a fan base whose passion for sport goes way beyond motorsport,” PokerStars group marketing director Tom Warren said in a news release. “To be able to engage an audience of this size and yet focus just on the regions that are key to us makes this a very exciting proposition.”

Company officials note that PokerStars Sports customers are actively engaged in Formula 1 and this season is no different. Visibility among F1 fans offers the operator a chance at reaching new and existing customers.

“We’re delighted to have reached this agreement with Flutter Group,” ISG CEO Tony Ragan said. “Combining the worldwide appeal of PokerStars and this targeted approach in engaging fans with many similar traits as the PokerStars’ community is an incredible opportunity for innovation and further engagement between the two popular brands.”

 WCOOP coming soon

On Wednesday, PokerStars also confirmed the dates for the upcoming World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The series has become one of the most prestigious series in online poker and is set for Aug. 22 to Sept. 15.

Players can expect an overall guarantee of $100 million – the series’ biggest guarantee ever. Last year’s series awarded $99.9 million, exceeding the original $80 million guarantee.

The series also attracted more than 1.1 million entries across the 75-event schedule. The new schedule isn’t out yet, but is expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Brazilian Series breaks record online

For the last two years, the Brazilian Series of Online Poker (BSOP) has moved online to PokerStars. This year’s series featured 25 tournaments with $1.6 million guaranteed.

The results easily topped that total however, paying out more than $1.9 million and producing 48,772 total entries.

The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) continues online at PokerStars from March 24-29 with 24 tournaments and a $1.5 million guarantee.

The $215 two-day Main Event guaranteed $450,000 and ultimately produced a $529,600 prize pool. Russia’s “Alister07”came out on top for $77,556.

In the $530 High Roller, Uruguay’s “kofi89” scored the win for $31,459. Kofi took on a final table where seven of the eight players were Brazilian.

In the race for the country with the most titles, Russia topped the standings with six. The United Kingdom came in second with five followed by Brazil with four.

PokerStars kicks off the MicroMillions series in July for players on the international platform as well as in Southern Europe and Italy.

MicroMillions gets underway this week

Plenty of action continues this month at PokerStars. The site recently announced the popular MicroMillions series returns July 15-25 for players around the world.

The festival features $4.7 million in guaranteed prize pools across 122 events. The action also heads to PokerStars Southern Europe and PokerStars Italy as well.

Players on the Southern Europe platform (France, Spain, and Portugal) can expect 174 events from July 18 to Aug. 1 with €3 million in guaranteed.

Italian players are in store for 90 events with €1.2 million guaranteed. For a complete preview and schedule of the MicroMillions, click here.

Partypoker Waves Green Flag on Grand Prix PKO Series, Launches Leagues With Staples Brothers

PartyPoker Live’s Grand Prix UK returns in July with a heavy online poker schedule before players head off to play live at Dusk Till Dawn.

Partypoker gives players an opportunity to rev their engines with the Grand Prix Knockout returning July 18 to Aug. 2. The series features 16 progressive knockout (PKO) events with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $530.

The series caters to players of all levels. The unique PKO format adds some extra twists to a traditional bounty tournament.

Instead of a player receiving the entire bounty when eliminating an opponent, that player only receives a portion. The other half is added on that player’s head, increasing bounty values throughout the tournament. The Grand Prix features plenty of PKO bounty-busting action.

Inside the partypoker Grand Prix

Partypoker is hoping to appeal to a wide range of players with the series. That includes creating event structures that work around the needs of the players.

Several tournaments feature multiple starting days. Some events will also be played at times to better suit players across different time zones.

The two-day $109 Main Event highlights the series and begins July 25. The event features a $500,000 guarantee and runs through the final day of the series.

To give players more opportunities to participate, several starting flights are planned across nine days. Players can also look for Day 1 turbo and hyper events as well. Both of those run on the same day as the final day.

Main Event qualifiers are available throughout the series and start at just $0.01. Players also have another chance at a Main Event title. The $11 Mini Main Event features a $100,000 guarantee and runs on the same days as the Main Event.

“I’m really looking forward to playing in the Grand Prix Knockout,” Team partypoker’s Louise Butler said in a news release. “With affordable buy-ins and big guarantees, this series is going to be fun for everyone. I’m most excited about the Main Event and I’m delighted to see there’s also a Mini Main Event so lower-stake players can get involved and have a shot at a big score.”

Other highlights from the series

Several other notable events highlight the Grand Prix Knockout schedule. The $55 Six-Max kicks off the series and runs through July 26. The tournament comes with a $250,000 guarantee.

Players will also find two other versions of that tournament running the same dates. The $5.50 Mini Six-Max comes with a $50,000 guarantee. The $530 Six-Max High Roller features a $500,000 guarantee.

The $109 Grand Prix KO Online gets started on July 25 and comes with a $500,000 guarantee. The $5.50 mini version begins the same day and guarantees $50,000. Plenty of other action awaits.

“I really enjoyed taking part in the partypoker LIVE Grand Prix tour in cities such as Glasgow, Brighton, and my home city of Nottingham, so it’s great to see the brand continued in an online knockout version,” Team partypoker’s Carl Froch. “The knockout format means there are even more opportunities to win through knocking people out and taking their bounties, even if you don’t manage to finish in the money positions overall.

“Combined with the structures, which are designed around the players’ needs, this will be a great series for recreational players like myself and I’ll also be looking forward to some of the one-day turbo tournaments, which are ideal if you don’t have much time to commit to playing across multiple days.”

Here’s a look at the complete series.

More Money Heading to Partypoker Players As Cashback and Magic Cards Promotions Extended

Partypoker's Boosted Cashback and Magic Cards promotions are offering players have now been extended to July 18.

Partypoker recently announced some extra opportunities at cashback for the site’s players. The Boosted Cashback and Magic Cards promotions have now been extended to July 18.

The features allow players to win cashback and other special prizes. The extension comes after more than 14,000 players scored additional prizes as part of the promotions.

That includes some serious cashback. More than 12,000 players who wouldn’t normally receive payments have earned 10% extra cashback since the promotion began.

Details of partypoker’s Boosted Cashback

The recent launch of Boosted Cashback has been popular with cash game players. Players earn 10% extra for every 0.1 cashback point earned.

Two players have even earned more than $1,000 extra as a result. More than 250 players have received $100 or more and another 560 players have received at least $50

In June, partypoker enhanced Boosted Cashback to make the offer even more lucrative for players.  All players need to do is earn 0.1 cashback point or more in a day on any game type.

Partypoker then pays 10% extra cashback on all of their cash game and fastforward rake.

Players would usually be required to earn 25 cashback points to earn 20% cashback. Because of the enhancements, thousands of players who don’t usually earn cashback now qualify.

Players earn one point for every $1 in rake they generate from cash games and fastforward games. They also earn 0.1 points for every $0.10 in rake they generate.

“It’s great partypoker realizes every player is an important player,” Team partypoker’s Patrick Leonard said in a news release. “Whether you play once a week, three days a week, or five days a week, we value everyone, so everyone who rakes just $0.10 in a day can now enjoy Boosted Cashback.”

Magic Cards also extended

Partypoker has also extended the Magic Cards promotion to July 18. The site announced recently that the maximum cash prize would be increased from $500 to $1,000.

Magic Cards allow players to go on a poker journey and earn daily picks. Players can use their daily pick to choose one of four cards, which reveal instant prizes including:

  • cash
  • tournament tickets
  • Bonuses
  • freeroll entries

Cash game and fastforward players can currently earn up to five picks per day. They also earn an extra pick for every cashback point they earn from those games.

GGPoker Unveils New Flip & Go Multi Phase Events With Fast Action, Bigger Guarantees

GGPoker has launched Flip & Go Renewal tournaments, an addition to the already popular format but now with a multi-phase version.

As part of GGPoker’s monthly software update completed on Monday, players will now find something new. The site has launched Flip & Go Renewal tournaments, an addition to the already popular feature.

This new offering ramps up the Flip & Go concept even more in a with multi-phase version. These tournaments offer a fun and fast event with plenty of opportunities to get in the action.

How do Flip & Go Multi Phase tournaments work?

After jumping in a Flip & Go, players are dealt three cards. Each competitor then picks two and are all in.

The tournaments get players into the money faster and have become quite popular on the site. GG is even sponsoring a version of the tournament this fall at the World Series of Poker.

In the new Multi Phase version, players will find two stages. Here’s a look at each of those.

Flip Stage

Players start with a Flip & Go and can buy in for multiple stacks (up to five). The stage runs in a standard Flip & Go format.

One player for each table advances to the Go Stage, with their chip stacks brought over.

Some tables will have multiple players buying in many times for multiple stacks at their tables. Survivors of these will have an advantage over those who win a table with fewer buy-ins.

Additionally, players can join multiple Flip Stage tournaments. If they survive more than one of these, their chip stacks are combined for the Go Stage.

Along with moving on to the Go Stage, the Flip step also promises some bonuses. Those players who make these hands will win the corresponding bonuses:

  • Straight flush – 4x starting stack
  • Three of a kind – 3x starting stack
  • Flush – 2x starting stack
  • Straight – 2x starting stack

Go Stage

This section of the tournament runs more like a standard tournament. All players who reach this point have made it into the money.

This stage doesn’t start until all Flip Stages are complete. Multi Stage Flip & Go events are scheduled every hour.

The events feature three buy-in levels: $0.05, $0.50, $3, and $20. Here’s a look at the expected guarantee for each event:

Buy-inGuarantee
$20$5,000 ~ $6,000
$3$1,500 ~ $3,000
$0.50$500 ~ $1,000
$0.05$100 ~ $200

Flip & Go Multi Stage adds some fast fun to a traditional tournament. The events reward players with greater guarantees and more chances to win.
