Partypoker player wins $1 million; Site launches WSOPC Passports, Cash Boom promotion

A Russian partypoker SPINS player recently won $1 million.

A million bucks. That might be a goal for many poker players and one on partypoker recently made it a reality.

OdwaznyKot,” from St. Petersburg, Russia, became the newest player to win a $1 million prize through the site’s SPINS games. Playing a $250 buy-in game, he hit a jackpot multiplier boosting the payouts by 4,800 times the buy-in.

A poker pro for 10 years, OdwaznyKot couldn’t quite believe he’d triggered such a massive opportunity.

“Has this really happened to me?” he recalls after seeing the jackpot show up on screen. It turned out to be quite a February for this player.

Playing a partypoker SPINS for a mega win

When all the chips were in, OdwaznyKot’s [Qh9h] held up against his opponent’s [10c8h] for the massive pot. He becomes partypoker’s latest SPINS millionaire.

OdwaznyKot plans to use some winnings for a vacation and devote time to self development and improving his poker game. Away from poker, he enjoys chess, practicing Muay Thai boxing, traveling, and exploring other cultures.

The big winner started out as a successful StarCraft player. He even won his city championships during his youth.

OdwaznyKot later moved into poker, which looks to have been a wise decision. What does he enjoy about playing at partypoker?

“I like partypoker’s attitude towards professional players who love this game and devote their lives to it,” he says. “Bonuses, promotions, leaderboards, and the rakeback systems are really amazing.

“It’s great to see that party remains the platform where poker skills and mastery still dominate.”

He follows in the footsteps of James “James23C” Carmichael, who made history on June 11. He became the first partypoker SPINS $1 million jackpot winner.

Big payouts all around for partypoker SPINS jackpot players

Partypoker SPINS are three-handed jackpot-style tournaments ranging in buy-ins of $0.25 to $500 in a fast-action format.

The SPINS are part of the site’s recent efforts to redesign and improve the partyoker mobile platform. With a small field, they are easy to play on a mobile device.

As OdwaznyKot shows, they can pay off in a big way. That includes the other two players at the table for the ultimate jackpot multiplier.

Second and third-place finishers in the tournament won $100,000 each for their efforts. That’s certainly a nice result as well.

Partypoker Passports expand to WSOP Circuit international events

Partypoker also recently announced a new MILLIONS Passport promotion for 2020. Players can win a Passport online, which can be used at the site’s MILLIONS events.

A Passport includes a complete event entry and much more.  Each MILLIONS event is held at a luxury destination where MILLIONS Passport holders will experience VIP treatment. They’ll enjoy luxury hotels and exclusive extras off the felt with a value of at least $11,000 per event.

In February, Partypoker also introduced Passport for the World Series of Poker Circuit in 2020. A WSOPC Passport is a flexible satellite package, allowing winners to use them for selected international events within 12 months of winning it.

Exclusive WSOPC Passport satellites will be held on partypoker with $16.50 Phase 1 events running daily into a weekly final every Sunday.

Players won’t be able to buy in to the Sunday final. All $1,500 packages are won by $16.50 Phase 1 players. WSOPC Passport events include:

GGPoker Launching Spin & Gold Tables with Cash Back Option, New Promotions for Players

GGPoker will release its own take on the popular jackpot spin and go format on Feb. 28. Several other promotions are also underway.

As one of the fastest growing online poker sites in the world, GGPoker will now be upping the ante. On Feb. 28, the site will release its own take on the popular jackpot spin and go format.

While GG’s offering is still in beta version, the site is upping its game with its own take on this fun format. The site is also continuing several promotions throughout February offering some nice bonuses for players.

What is a spin and go?

Spin and go  games combine an element of luck in small-field, single-table tournaments. Players enter and then a wheel is spun to determine the payout in the winner-take-all format.

Many players enjoy the quick element to the tournaments as well as a bit of luck to determine the prize pool. Most pots are for twice the prize pool, but occasionally a larger prize will land on the wheel.

This gives players the opportunity at a bigger prize and sometimes a much bigger prize.

Beyond the prize aspect, spin and go’s can easily be played on a mobile or tablet device. Because of the small number of players, following the action for a quick game of poker is easy on these devices.

What can spin and go fans expect from GGPoker?

Players looking for some spin and go action on GGPoker will find something a bit new and different. GG’s version will be called Spin & Gold. It features a three-handed fast-paced sit and go where players can win up to 12,000 times their buy-in.

GGPoker makes use of some additional options to raise the game for Spin & Gold events.

Like a traditional spin and go, a player selects a buy-in and the system randomly selects a prize. At GG, players can buy in for:

  • $1 – with a chance to win up to $12,000
  • $5 – with a chance to win up to $60,000
  • $20 – with a chance to win up to $240,000
  • $50 – with a chance to win up to $600,000

Players can also earn extra cash back by participating in Spin & Gold challenges.

By simply clicking the “challenge” tab in the top left-hand corner, players will then be given some choices. First, players simply select the length of time to play – one, two, three, five, or eight hours.

They can then select a challenge to complete. At GGPoker, these are referred to as “Gold Mine Challenges.” Players have to “mine” a certain amount of gold through their play to earn the cash back.

Once the players complete the challenge, the funds will automatically be sent to the player’s account. Once the Spin & Gold feature becomes live, GG players will be ready to get mining for gold.

GGPoker adds more player promotions

Along with the debut of Spin & Gold, GGPoker is adding more incentives for players. The site recently unveiled a few player-friendly promotions offering a shot at extra cash and prizes.

The efforts are part of GGPoker’s “$800,000 February” campaign. Here’s a look at some of the promotions:

  • $400,000 Rush and Cash – GG is offering a weekly $100,000 throughout February on four stake level leaderboards. The more you play, the bigger the prizes you can win. The site throws in random 50% Cash Drops at all Rush and Cash tables. Raked hands also now generate Fish Buffet Points, boosting those spin cash rewards.
  • $300K All-In or Fold Gacha Giveaway – Simply play 150 hands in the fast-paced All In or Fold game in a single day. You’ll then be entered into one of four All In or Fold Gacha tournaments running the following day. Prizes including cash and tournament dollars/tickets are awarded randomly, adding to the fun.
  • 6+ Short Deck Poker – Get in the game, play 100 hands, and earn five antes instantly. That’s a nice reward for learning this game that’s growing in popularity.

The Sunday Million remains the world’s biggest $1 million guaranteed weekly poker tournament.

Battle for PokerStars Platinum Passes continues

Beyond the birthday bash, 2020 is again a big year for the company for other reasons. PokerStars announced in August that the Platinum Pass promotion would be revived in 2019-20.

Several of those coveted prizes have already been awarded with more packages up for grabs throughout the year. The €22,500 buy-in ($25,000) PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) is set for Aug. 20-24 in Barcelona, Spain.

A Platinum Pass includes a buy-in for the event and a complete travel getaway Barcelona. It is one of the most coveted prizes in poker and the buzz should build throughout the year.

A two-time Platinum Pass winner ready for Barcelona

Canada’s Jennifer Carter made some news recently after winning her second straight Platinum Pass. Carter enjoys playing small-stakes tournaments on the site via mobile phone.

In 2018, she topped a field on more than 21,000 players in an online freeroll to win her seat in the Bahamas. Amazingly, she won yet another pass in October.

That came after starting out in a $2 Mega Path tournament. She then moved up three more steps to earn a seat in Barcelona this August. She’s now one of just three people to have won a Platinum Pass twice.

She told the PokerStars blog that she tried the $2 Mega Path route about 50 times before hitting paydirt. Her story shows how the event appealed to small-stakes players and professionals alike.

“I don’t know how I did it,” she told the PokerStars blog. “Because it’s me. I can’t beat $.01/.02 online! It’s unbelievable. I was literally baking muffins during this tournament, doing dishes.

“And then in Step 4 I was just sitting in my bed knitting. I don’t have a bankroll because I can’t even win a $1 tournament. But I can win the biggest ones. I just don’t get it.”

PokerStars awarded more than 300 Platinum Passes over 13 months for the inaugural PSPC in January 2019. The event was held at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas and featured a $26 million prize pool.

Platinum Pass winner Ramon Colillas topped a field of 1,039 to take home $5.1 million. Carter will once again be among the field in Barcelona hoping for a deep run.

“It feels like full circle right now,” she said. “I’m thrilled. It’s unbelievable.”
