Final PokerStars Pit Stop Cash Drop Jackpot Grows to More Than $200K

As the F1 season comes to a close this weekend, PokerStars is upping the ante with a $220,000 jackpot in the Pit Stop Cash Drop promotion

As the Formula One season comes to a close this weekend, PokerStars is upping the ante with a $220,000 jackpot up for grabs for one lucky online poker player in the Pit Stop Cash Drop promotion.

Stars, an Oracle Red Bull Racing team partner, has run racing-themed promotions since the French Grand Prix in July. Recent events have led to the super-sized prize drop.

“With the huge excitement of the F1 season and the stellar performance from the Oracle Red Bull Racing team, it’s only fitting to celebrate in style and award this massive prize to our deserving community,” PokerStars director of partnerships, public relations, and consumer engagement Rebecca McAdam Willetts said in a news release.

“Offering epic rewards to the community is at the heart of our partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing, and we are truly excited to see who lands the PokerStars Pit Stop Cash Drop jackpot.”

How to win the PokerStars Pit Stop Cash Drop

Every Tuesday after each F1 race, PokerStars randomly dropped a jackpot prize into one PokerStars player’s account. The player had just 15 minutes to claim the cash.

With no player claiming the jackpot so far this season, the jackpot increased every race and now stands at $220,000 if the Oracle Red Bull Racing team makes the podium. If the team comes up short of the podium, $210,000 will be on the line to one lucky player.

The final Pit Stop Cash Drop is set for Nov. 22 after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. For this cash drop, instead of the 15-minute time limit, PokerStars is raising that to 48 hours.

This gives players a longer window of time to claim the prize. To earn a chance to win, players must opt in to the promotion.

If the jackpot chest remains unclaimed after Nov. 24, Stars will select another player until the phenomenal prize is finally claimed. Now doubt, plenty of players will be eagerly checking their accounts.

A big winner on tap

Clues to the mystery winner will be shared across PokerStars Casino social media channels. Stars will invite players to guess along with a series of #WhoWunnit clues hinting at the winner’s identity.

Across the F1 season, Stars has awarded players with a host of special race weekend rewards. With the Red Bull partnership, the site has aimed to bring F1-fueled entertainment to players and fans through:

  • unique experiences
  • promotions
  • competitions
  • exclusive content

The efforts are part of a multi-year agreement with Red Bull Oracle Racing.

Sports-style Bet & Go Tournaments Debut at GGPoker This Weekend With World Cup Kickoff

GGPoker is reaching out to online poker players and sports fans with the new Bet & Go tournament format, which debuts Sunday.

GGPoker is reaching out to poker players and sports fans with the new Bet & Go tournament format. The option brings a bit of the fun of live sports to the online poker realm.

In a Bet & Go, players’ skills on the table not only matter, but also how well they pick a sporting event.

“With Bet & Go tournaments, GGPoker players can support their favorite teams or simply take advantage of the biggest discounts and cheer for the underdogs,” GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu said in a news release. “Watch your team win the event and you’ll be free to continue to play your way into the money. It could be a win-win for you.”

How do GGPoker Bet & Go events work?

When playing a Bet & Go style event, each tournament is matched to an upcoming sporting event, such as a football or tennis match. Players can choose from two buy-in options, one for either opponent in the sports event.

The buy-in is then discounted by each opponent’s odds of winning. For example, players supporting big favorites in the sporting event will have smaller discounts applied to their buy-in than available to players who choose to support the underdogs.

GG officials say the tournaments “will bring the excitement of supporting your favorite sports teams onto the digital felt.”

Another unique Bet & Go twist is that once the sporting event ends, surviving players who registered in support of the losing team are automatically knocked out of the tournament. However, all players knocked out can rebuy at a non-discounted buy-in.

Bet & Go debuts Sunday

Those looking to get in the sports/poker action can jump in the first tournament on Sunday. The event debuts at the same time as the Qatar versus Ecuador World Cup match.

GG will run additional tournaments for football matches in the following days and weeks. The action on the felt should add to the action on the pitch for GG online poker players and sports fans.

New Promotions Launched at 888poker Including $2 Million BLAST Event, Live Package Freeroll

888poker announced the launch of the  The Anniversary Selection series of promotions on Thursday for the last two months of the year.

888poker announced the launch of the  The Anniversary Selection series of promotions on Thursday for the last two months of the year. The new events come in part of 888’s 20th anniversary celebration and cap the year for the online poker site.

The Anniversary Selection includes six different promotions and activities from Nov. 17 – Jan. 4. The efforts are designed to reward players for their loyalty to the site, which was recently named the EGR Poker Operator of the Year.

A look at 88poker’s new promotions

Players at 888 will find some nice prizes and rewards up for grabs as part of the two-month promotion. A major part of the Anniversary Selection is the super-sized $2 million BLAST.

The events feature a $20 buy-in from Nov. 17 – Jan. 4 with a chance at a huge seven-figure prize pool. This is twice the usual maximum jackpot in the popular Sit & Go events.

The site is also giving away 20 exclusive $2,000 888pokerLIVE packages over the next two months. Players simply have to buy in to online poker tournaments with a minimum buy-in of $1.

Those finishing in the money could earn a ticket into a live event giveaway freeroll. The top five finishers in the event earn a $2,000 live event package.

Even more up for grabs with Anniversary Selection

Beyond those two events, 888 is offering even more in the coming months. That includes 20% extra rakeback on cash games played from Nov. 24-31.

This extra is  on top of any other rakeback a player has earned during this period. Some other upcoming events include:

  • Happy Holidays Sale: Tournament Series – This promotion features slashed buy-ins on some of 888’s most popular tournaments from Dec. 19-26.
  • $20,000 Anniversary Freeroll – Those who play 20 tournaments or more with a $1 minimum buy-in from Nov. 25 – Dec. 24 receive a ticket to the $20,000 Anniversary Freeroll. The event runs on Dec. 25 with plenty of free Christmas cash on the line.
  • Holiday Megawheel – All players get a chance to spin the wheel for some extra goodies during this holiday season.

Other 888 news

Beyond these promotions, 888poker also recently made some other news. On Tuesday, the site announced the signing of Spanish poker pro and YouTube vlogger Lucia Navarro.

“I am super excited and grateful to be part of a strong and diverse team of ambassadors at 888poker,” she said in a news release “The brand is dedicated to player enjoyment and satisfaction, which are some of the reasons I decided to wear the 888poker patch.”

The operator also announced changes recently to the site’s BLAST jackpot games. 888 has removed the timer and automatic all-in features from the sit & go games.

Spanish Poker Pro, YouTube Vlogger Lucia Navarro Signs as 888poker’s Latest Ambassador

888poker continues adding to the site’s ambassador roster and announced the signing of Spanish poker pro Lucia Navarro on Tuesday.

888poker continues adding to the site’s ambassador roster and announced the signing of Spanish poker pro Lucia Navarro on Tuesday.

Originally from Alicante, Spain, Navarro has traveled the world playing poker and loves the game. Much of her career has focused on online poker and she also vlogs about her poker adventures on YouTube.

Her new role with 888 should be part of those media efforts now as well.

“I am super excited and grateful to be part of a strong and diverse team of ambassadors at 888poker,” she said in a news release “The brand is dedicated to player enjoyment and satisfaction, which are some of the reasons I decided to wear the 888poker patch.”

Navarro’s journey to poker success

Even from an early age, poker and card games in general were a major part of Navarro’s life. Family members remember the youngster chasing anyone down she could to play.

That eventually led to launching a professional poker career in her home country in 2013. Navarro, who later moved to Portugal, focused mainly on online cash games. She also played live cash and tournaments at the local Casino Mediterraneo.

A year later, Navarro won her first major tournament, collecting $22,000 at a CNP Valencia main event. In 2015, she moved to London “to take advantage of the juicy live cash games at the Victoria Casino,” 888poker’s announcement of the signing notes.

More tournament play also followed, including a repeat main event title at CNP Alicante in 2019 for $35,000. The win came while on a visit back to her hometown to visit family and friends.

Navarro is the only woman on the Spanish national poker circuit to hold two major titles.

Joining the 888 team

As a member of the team, Navarro will join plenty of online action at 888poker. She also may be on the road as well for 888 live events.

Navarro says she enjoys traveling for live events, but also welcomes the calm and tranquility when playing online tournaments at home.

One of her recent YouTube videos featured Navarro playing in a tournament in Portugal. She also produced a video focusing on her online poker setup as well.

With the new 888 signing, the company will place the poker pro even more in the spotlight as she represent the brand.

“With so much love for the game and an eye to making it even more player-focused,” she says, “I look forward to representing 888poker with pride. Thank you for the opportunity.”

888poker Announces Changes to Blast Events; Timers, Automatic All In Features Are Now Gone

Some changes are underway for 888poker’s Blast jackpot games including the removal of the timer and automatic all-in features.

Some changes are underway for 888poker’s Blast jackpot games. That includes removing the timer and automatic all-in features from the popular sit & go games.

“We’ve listened to our players and are confident they’ll love the changes,” the company noted in a news release.

Sit & go style tournaments feature three players with a random prize determined at the beginning of the action. The events are usually in a winner-take-all format on most online poker sites.

The changes bring 888’s Blast games more in line with similar offerings at other online platforms.

A look at the 888poker Blast changes

Like many online poker sites, 888 offers short-handed, fast-paced tournaments. Blast events offer players with limited time a chance to test their poker skills against others.

The tournaments are quick and offer a chance at major prizes depending on the prize randomizer. Players can win up to 10,000 times their buy-in, offering players a shot at plenty of bang for the buck.

888’s was a unique version with a bit more luck involved because of the timer and auto all-in features. Players apparently wanted these elements removed and 888 now has delivered with that request.

“With more control over the outcome of your game, your chance to win massive Blast jackpots is even more in your hands,” the company noted in announcing the changes.

Those playing in Blast events will also notice some additional details. The higher the prize pool multiplier, the more chips a player receives. Blind level lengths also increase at higher levels.

More 888poker events underway

In other news, 888 recently announced the sponsorship of the CNP888 LIVE Festival in Madrid, Spain. The series begins Thursday and runs through Nov. 20 at Casino Gran Madrid Torrelodones.

Players will find a €1,100 Main Event and online qualifying opportunities at 888poker. Complete $2,000 luxury tournament packages are up for grabs.

The Knockout Games Mystery Bounty Edition also runs through Nov. 22 with more than $2 million guaranteed. The $250 Main Event highlights the series on Nov. 20-22 with a $500,000 guarantee. For a complete preview and series schedule, click here.

Other events running at GGPoker

Beyond the Omaholics, even more is on the line for online poker players at GG. The $11 Flip & Go Millionaire has earned some headlines in recent weeks.

The special event comes with at least $1 million guaranteed in prizes on the line. Players can still get in the Flip stage, but the Go stage begins Nov. 11.

Flip stages run every 20 minutes on the site and GG staff are pleased with the turnout so far.

“We believe it is going to hit the $1 million guarantee, and so we’re very happy with the community’s engagement with this,” Burke told PokerScout. “It’s always great to be able to offer players this kind of lower buy-in event with a chunky guarantee.”

GGPoker has announced the launch of the $11 Flip & Go Millionaire, a special tournament with at least $1 million in prizes on the line.

As of Thursday morning, the event had attracted 70,795 entries but that number was moving up quickly.

“We’re hoping this will cross 100,000 entries before the final Flip Stages are complete,” Burke said.

The site is also partnering with Dusk Till Dawn casino for the upcoming United Kingdom Poker Championships. The series begins on Jan. 7 at GG and then live play starts at Dusk Till Dawn on Jan. 11.

Players will find a £560 Main Event with £500,000 guaranteed and an extra £50,000 in added prizes for players who qualify online.

The site is offering players a chance to grab a complete tournament package. Qualifiers starts at just a dollar and include:

  • Daily Dollar Qualifiers – These award one seat daily for just $1. GG will award a total of 60 tickets via Daily Dollar Qualifiers.
  • Weekly $80 Super Satellites – These run every Wednesday and guarantee one seat for every £560 ($640) in the prize pool. Each weekly event guaratees eight seats.

Irish Poker Open Joins Forces With PokerStars, Paddy Power for 2023 Series; Online Events Planned

Irish Poker Open organizers announced a new deal with PokerStars and Paddy Power on Monday for the upcoming series.

The Irish Poker Open has a new online poker operator for 2023. Festival organizers announced a new deal with PokerStars and Paddy Power on Monday for the upcoming series.

Both brands are part of Flutter Entertainment and the new official sponsors for the series. The Irish Open is set for April 3-10 in the RDS Ballsbridge in Dublin.

Plans call for both brands promoting the event and offering online satellites on PokerStars and Paddy Power. The live events will also be streamed as part of the partnership.

“We are very proud to announce PokerStars and Paddy Power as the official sponsors of the Irish Poker Open and we are looking forward to bringing our players another epic festival, while welcoming new players from around the globe!” festival CEOs Paul O’Reilly and JP McCann said in a news release.

“We have exciting plans in place for the growth of the Irish Poker Open, Europe’s longest-running poker festival, and we believe, with PokerStars and Paddy Power as the new sponsors, this aligns perfectly with our vision for the growth over the coming years. This can only be a great thing for players.”

What to expect at the Irish Poker Open

Those heading to the Emerald Isle are again in store for some major poker action. The highlight is the €1 million guaranteed Main Event.

Organizers will release more event details in the coming weeks. Stars promises plenty of activities on and off the felt in Dublin.

The Irish Poker Open is one of the most-anticipated series each year on the European card-playing calendar. The festival is the longest-running No Limit Hold’em tournament outside Las Vegas. The series has a history going back more than 42 years.

The Open received some extra publicity in 1984 when a group of about 25 American players traveled to Ireland to play the tournament at Killiney Castle.

The group included then-reigning World Series of Poker champion Tom McEvoy. Poker Hall of Fame members Stu Ungar, Chip Reese, and Doyle Brunson also made the trip. The €1,000 Main Event attracted widespread television and press coverage in Ireland, putting the Irish Poker Open on the map.

Most recently, well-regarded poker pro Steve O’Dwyer topped a field of 2,040 entries earlier this year for the title and €318,700. O’Dwyer has lived in Dublin for the last 10 years and scored the title in his hometown.

The Main Event saw a €2 million prize pool, doubling the €1 million guarantee. The 2023 event features the same guarantee and organizers are hoping for similar results.

“Ireland is the home of Flutter and we are truly delighted to partner with the already well-loved Open and work with our colleagues at Paddy Power and the Irish Poker Open to make this a very special event for all our players, not only for those in Ireland but for players from around the world,” PokerStars chief commercial officer Kevin Harrington said in a news release.

Online opportunities

As in previous series during the COVID pandemic, players will also find online options before and during the series. Online qualifiers should be part of the mix at PokerStars and Paddy Power.

Stars will also run an online Irish Poker Open series ahead of the event and with more details coming soon. Paddy Poker is expected to hold online events and promotions as well.

The new partnership pleased company executives, who are happy to be back in the fold as a sponsor of the series.

“Paddy Power has over a decade of heritage as former sponsors of the Irish Poker Open, so the opportunity to make a comeback bigger than Boris Johnson (former prime minister of the United Kingdom) by going all in with our colleagues in Flutter made us royally flush with excitement,” a Paddy Power spokesman said.

“By the very nature of its warm hospitality, Dublin – which bears a remarkable resemblance to Vegas if you crank up the central heating – always attracts a full house. And we’re at full tilt with plans to ensure the 2023 Irish Poker Open is the greatest poker tournament Europe has ever witnessed. On a more personal note, I’ve vowed to brush up on my poker puns before we return to the table.”

Power Couple: PokerStars, Poker Power Group Team Up for Female Player-Focused Boot Camps

PokerStars announced a partnership with the women-led organization Poker Power with the goal of bringing more female players into the game.

The goal of getting more women into poker continues as a major goal for PokerStars. On Thursday, the company announced another addition to those efforts, a partnership with the women-led organization Poker Power.

The group offers training and events geared toward female players. The first initiative between Stars and Poker Power is a boot camp to strengthen their skills. More co-branded events are also planned.

“We’re incredibly excited to join forces with such a progressive organization like Poker Power,” PokerStars director of partnerships, public relations, and consumer engagement Rebecca McAdam Willetts said in a news release.

“They are the perfect partner to collaborate with on this project as the work they do with women in poker transcends the gaming table – their programs teach skills of strategy and leadership that can be applied to the board room and beyond.”

PokerStars looks to grow women in the game

The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to the growth of the game and to supporting women in poker. Stars hopes to bring the fun to more women while ensuring a comfortable and safe place to play, live or online.

The news follows recent Poker Power research that a major gender gap exists within the game. Female players check in at just 4% of the estimated 100 million poker players worldwide.

What to expect from PokerStars/Poker Power

The four-week boot camps are part of the overall Stars effort to address that disparity, company officials say. The Poker Power aim to add confidence and skills by:

  • highlighting women in poker
  • presenting more opportunities for women who already play and for those who would like to learn
  • learning gameplay skills that translate to real-world success including negotiation, strategic decision-making, and capital allocation

The curriculum includes practice sessions on Power’s teaching app, Poker Power Play. Those attending can also expect specialized tournaments and home games on PokerStars.

Modules feature themes like confidence, boldness, determination, perception, and discipline. The site notes that input from women players was a big part of the planning process.

“Despite some great progress over the years, we know there’s still a long road ahead to make poker more inclusive, but a lot can be done when we row in the same direction together,” McAdam Willetts said. “We also know women-only events and activities are not for everyone, but we’ve listened to players and this is one of many activities we have planned that comes from direct feedback.

“These boot camps are an essential first opportunity to pique interest in women who have never played the game before and to motivate those that play poker, to continue to evolve their skills and gain confidence at the tables. We’re committed to making poker as inclusive and accessible for everyone and it’s our mission to create equal opportunities and a safe space for the poker community.”

Stars ambassadors part of the mix

Beyond the training elements of the sessions, PokerStars ambassadors will also take part. The events include one-on-one tutorials with company representatives like Jennifer Shahade, GJ Reggie and Lali Tournier.

The women hope to prepare students to play at the tables. Those participating will even have a chance to win a spot in a special event at European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague series.

Stars selected participants via an anonymous survey. Those surveyed had limited poker ability, but an interest in furthering their skills and learning more.

The partnership comes after PokerStars recently held its first Road to PSPC (PokerStars Players Championship) women’s event. Rishva Iyer (pictured in lead image courtesy PokerStars) came out on top, scoring a Platinum Pass.

Officials with the company and Poker Power now hope their partnership adds to the momentum.

“We are honored to be working with PokerStars on this milestone project,” Poker Power managing director  and general manager Erin Lydon said. “PokerStars shares our strategic mission and vision for the future of women in poker – and it’s thrilling to curate a special boot camp that will encourage more women to join this amazing sport. Our mission at Poker Power is to teach one million women business and life skills through the game of poker.

“Our four-week course will not just teach women about poker but equip them with important life skills that can be applied to business, parenthood, and general life. I hope through this partnership, we can create more opportunities for women, and that perceptions of poker will begin to shift and more women will feel empowered and safe to step up to the gaming table.”
