Patrik Antonius, Kahle Burns Top List of Early Winners at Triton Super High Roller Series

Patrik Antonius, Ben Tollerene, and Kahle Burns are among some of the early winners at the Triton Super High Roller Series in North Cyprus.

The international high stakes poker action continues this week at the Triton Super High Roller Series in North Cyprus. The last week has seen some big names rise to the top including Patrik Antonius, Ben Tollerene, and Kahle Burns all finding early wins.

Sam Grafton has also shown huge skills with a major win in the $200,000  Coin Rivet Invitational and runner-up finish as well. The series is attracting major fields with the first event of the series, the €25,000 No Limit Hold’em, reaching a record number of entries for Triton.

A few big-name online poker ambassadors have also scored some nice finishes. With half of the festival complete, here’s a look at some of the big winners so far.

Event 1: €25,000 No Limit Hold’em

This tournament brought in a record 131 entries, the new benchmark for any Triton event so far. The previous record of 130 was set back in 2019. This event saw a $3.3 million prize pool with a familiar name finding the winner’s circle.

Patrik Antonius (pictured in lead image) has long been one of the biggest names in poker, playing high stakes events in both the live and online arenas. On Sept. 6, he added a Triton title to his poker resumé, scoring $825,000 in the process.

“These are the nicest events that exist in poker … everything is top, top quality,” Antonius said after the win. “They couldn’t do a better job. I’m happy to play these tournaments and I’m happy to win my first one.”

A huge call late in the tournament stood out. He made a massive read with a pair of deuces to win a big pot.

This became Antonius’s first tournament win since 2018 and he now has $13.8 million in live tournament winnings. Bulgaria’s Fahredin Mustafov finished runner-up for $557,000 with Steve O’Dwyer, of Ireland, taking third for $362,000.

Event 2: $30,000 NLHE Six-Handed

Ben Tollerene, of the United States, added his name to the Triton winners list by topping a field of 77 entries and 46 re-entries for $807,927. Originally from Texas, Tollerene now has $10.6 million in live tournament winnings.

PartyPoker ambassador Yuri Martins Dzivielevski took, or Brazil, finished runner-up for $749,073. England’s Stephen Chidwick took third for $408,000.

Event 3: $50,000 NLHE Six-Handed

The buy-in ramped up even more for this event. Germany’s Pieter Aerts found the title for a hefty $1.5 million payday. The tournament brought in 72 entries and 45 re-entries for a $5.9 million prize pool.

The win caps a huge month for Aerts, who picked up a World Series of Poker bracelet in August in the WSOP Online at GGPoker. He won the $5,000 NLHE Six-Handed Championship for $400,213. Just days later, the Belgian player also took third in the $10,000 Super Million$ High Roller for $586,020.

All that added up to more than $2 million in winnings in less than three weeks. In the Triton event, the Uk’s Sam Grafton finished runner-up for $994,500. Tollerene continued his nice run, finishing fourth for $535,000.

Event 5: $75,000 NLHE Eight-Handed

The tournament on the main schedule returned with this event (Note: Triton traditionally doesn’t schedule an Event 4). The action saw 54 entries and 34 re-entries for a $6.6 million prize pool.

Kahle Burns took the title for $1.7 million and capped quite a heater for the player from Australia. The UK’s Sam Greenwood took runner-up for $1.2 million and Seth Davies, of the US, scored third for $815,000. Dzivielevski continued his nice efforts in the series, finishing fourth for $630,000.

It’s been a huge few weeks for Burns. In August, he finished runner-up in a €50,000 European Poker Tour Barcelona event for $587,498.

That was followed by another runner-up in a $25,000 NLHE Super High Roller Championship in the WSOP Online at GGPoker for $934,604. The Triton win came after some time away from the series.

“I took some time off, spent some time with my girlfriend, my family,” he said. “When you travel a lot, you start to miss some things. I was missing my friends, missing my family. But then I started to miss the poker, so I came back.”

Event 6: $200,000 Coin Rivet Invitational

This huge buy-in tournament was also part of the Triton action in North Cyprus. The event featured a mix of business professionals and poker pros separated into two different fields on the first day of action.

The fields were then combined on Day 2 and played out as a regular tournament. The event produced a $23 million prize pool and the UK’s Sam Grafton grabbed the Coin Rivet title for $5.5 million.

“It was so much fun,” he said. “Playing against some of the most remarkable entrepreneurs and businesspeople in the world … it was played with a special spirit. On the day the two lanes merged, players were smiling like it was Christmas or their birthday. Everyone had a skip in their steps. Tournament poker is just amazing. Playing this format is very special.”

Linus Loeliger, of Switzerland, finished third for $3.9 million. Online poker legend and GGPoker ambassador Fedor Holz finished fourth for $2.1 million.

Event 7: $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha

The four-card action mixed things up a bit in the series. In the end, it was a North Cyprus local capturing the title. Christopher Philippou found his Omaha game in fine form and scored $270,000 in the process.

This was his first tournament win and came against a tough final table that included Stephen Chidwick and Erik Seidel.

The tournament attracted a total of 32 entries for an $800,000 prize pool. England’s Talal Shakerchi finished in second place for $190,000. Chidwick ultimately finished fourth with Seidel taking sixth.

The series continues this week with seven more events on the schedule.

WSOP Online Update: Pete Chen Snags Second Bracelet, Rui Ferreira Grabs Another Big Victory

The WSOP Online action continued over the last week at GGPoker with Taiwan's Pete Chen grabbing his second bracelet.

The World Series of Poker Online action continued over the last week at GGPoker with several players scoring bracelets including Taiwan’s Pete Chen grabbing his second.

Portugal’s Rui Ferreira also scored a bracelet just weeks after a huge win on the European Poker Tour. Here’s a look at the series’ recent winners.

Event 14: $2,500 Deepstack Championship

This championship brings a bit of extra prestige and saw Russia’s Almaz Zhdanov rise to the top for a payday of $246,495. This online player now adds a WSOP bracelet to his trophy collection.

Finland’s Toni Kaukua finished runner-up for $187,273 in an event that saw 705 entries for a $1.7 million prize pool.

England’s Patrick Leonard scored his first bracelet over the summer and found another deep run in this one. The PartyPoker ambassador finished seventh for $47,405 and was a bit disappointed at how things ended.

Event 15: $777 Lucky Sevens Bounty

This slot machine style buy-in – 777 – brought a hefty field of 1,778 players for a $1.3 million prize pool. Taiwan’s Pete Chen claimed the top prize for a total of $116,247 and his second bracelet. Gary Thompson, of Ireland, finished runner-up for $53,867.

This win pushed Chen’s WSOP winnings to almost $1 million and his first bracelet also came online. That win was in 2021, when he took down a $400 Ultra Deepstack at WSOP.com for $82,560. Chen has been on the live tournament scene since 2011 and has more than $3.7 million in winnings.

Event 16: $1,000 Ultra Deepstack

This No Limit Hold’em event attracted 1,156 entries for a $1.1 million prize pool. Johnathon Gilliam, of the United States, won his first bracelet and $149,520.

Gilliam has more than $500,000 in live tournament winnings. His previous best cash came in 2015 when he finished fourth in a WSOP Circuit event for $69,536. Ireland’s Frank Lillis secured second place for $112,124.

Event 17: Big 500 NLHE

The lower buy-in action returned to GG with this event and Spain’s Vicente Delgado won his first bracelet and $174,497. Delgado has $782,693 in live tournament winnings as well.

On Twitter, the champion said his “love of the game” led to the victory. He re-entered the event late while playing four other tables online.

The tournament brought in a nice field of 3,141 entries for a $1.5 million prize pool. Serbia’s Milos Petakovic finished runner-up for $130,853.

Event 18: $100 Flip & Go

This bargain event brought in a massive field of 13,719 entries for a $1.3 million prize pool. In a Flip & Go, players begin with three cards and are all in on the first hand.

The winner then advances to the “Go” stage, which plays out as a regular tournament. The events feature plenty of gamble and have become popular tournaments for GG.

When the flipping action wrapped up, it was “go time” for Peru’s Ewald Alexander Mahr. He found the winner’s circle for $143,267 and his first bracelet. Russia’s Dmitry Safonov took second for $107,413.

Awesome August: Players Blast Away at 888poker With $400,000 Won in Sit & Go Tournaments

888poker paid out several nice jackpots over in August for $400,000 in Blast Sit & Go's including $70,000 to a player on the site for just four days.

Blast sit and go events have paid off for some lucky players at 888poker over the last few days. That included one player finding a five-figure score after playing on the site for just a few days.

The Blast events are the site’s version of popular short-handed tournaments. These have become popular over the last several years with online poker players.

These 888 events have awarded jackpots of about $400,000 over the last month, offering some players real bang for the buck.

What is an 888poker Blast Sit and Go?

Many sites offer short-handed tournaments. These events usually feature a wide range of buy-ins and a random prize determined before play begins. They offer quick-paced action with a winner-take-all format and are great for those looking to play a quick tournament.

At 888, Blast jackpot games feature three players with the prize pool randomly set. The prize pool ranges from twice a player’s buy-in to as high as 10,000 times that amount invested.

Players begin with a 1,500-chip starting stack and a timer also counts down as play continues. Once time is out, all three players are then all in every hand until one winner is left standing.

Big winners crowned in Blast events

The first big win came on Aug. 24 when “Bellyfuff” played a $10 Blast. The player had just joined 888 only four days earlier and was rewarded with a $70,000 payday.

While normal Blast events are winner take all, those events reaching the jackpot prize pool also pay out the other two players at the table as well. Second-place winner “belacroatia1” scored a $20,000 payout with “Brisels” collecting $10,000 for third.

That wasn’t the only big win in recent action however. Three more players had massive wins in the last month for another $300,000 over the last month.

All three of these players also bought in for only $10 and all hit the $100,000 jackpot prize pool.

Additionally, 888 players bagged more than $400,000 altogether in top 10 Blast wins in August. That came from buy-ins of just under $500.

Past winners in 2021 included the ultimate $1 million prize pool. Winners in that event scored $700,000 for first, $200,000 for second, and $100,000 for third.

Beyond Blast events, cash games, and daily tournaments, the ChampionChip Games have run at 888 over the last few weeks. The series wraps up on Tuesday with the $60 Main Event, featuring a $200,000 guarantee. For a complete look at some of those winners, click here.

TABLE TALK: PartyPoker’s Jaime Staples Talks MILLIONS Online, Streaming, Poker Tips, & More

Twitch streamer and PartyPoker ambassador Jaime Staples spoke with PokerScout about the upcoming MILLIONS Online series and more.

Players have no lack of online poker options in September and that includes PartyPoker’s MILLIONS Online, which kicks off Thursday. The series is one of the biggest events in online poker and runs Sept. 1-27.

The $3,200 Main Event offers players a shot at a huge title and a share of the $2 million guarantee. One of those heading to the tables is longtime Twitch streamer and PartyPoker ambassador Jaime Staples.

The Canadian poker pro has more than 155,000 followers on Twitch and has more than $1 million in online winnings. Staples is fresh off making two final table appearances in the McLaren Turbo Series. He spoke with PokerScout this week about MILLIONS Online and his life as a streamer and poker player.

What particularly excites you about this festival?

MILLIONS Online is the most important series of the year to me. It has some great events for everyone, but it’s also where PartyPoker has its biggest buy-ins of the year and some of the biggest guarantees of the year. I play mostly high-stakes tournaments now, so this is where I get to prove myself on home turf.

What do you think of Party, as well as other sites in general, seeming to do more than ever now to reach players of all bankroll levels for major events?

The best thing poker has going for it is the opportunity for everyone to be able to play together. If you have the buy-in, you can play against some of the best players for big money.

I think series including more affordable options, but where big players will still play, is just a ton of fun. I remember waiting hours to sit down to play with pros and play cash games online when I first started.

I imagine it’s the same feeling today for those with developing bankrolls and budgets. Poker is for everyone!

What are your streaming plans for the series? Are you planning anything special?

I will definitely be focusing on the Thursday to Monday slot, where most of the high-stakes flights take place. I think I’ll be streaming as much as I can on those days, but also listening to my mind and body.

When I need time off now, I take it. Hopefully I feel good through the whole series and I can get some great runs going.

How did you get into Twitch poker streaming and what do you enjoy about it?

I saw a post for Twitch Poker on the Two Plus Two forums in September 2014. It was a perfect time of life for me and I just made the decision to pursue poker full time. My mindset at the time was that I wanted to really commit to the game and participate in the industry along with being a player, so immediately I knew this was my chance to make it happen.

My favorite part about streaming is connecting with a wide variety of people from all over the world and having great conversations and discussions – about poker mostly, but also other things too. It’s just awesome how the Internet allows people to communicate at scale.

What’s one online poker tip you would give new players?

Be patient. Most people’s poker journey is short because they don’t set a proper budget and stay within it. They also feel as if they need to get to the top as soon as possible.

Poker is a game that can be played over your whole adult life. Be patient on your progression, and the likelihood of it being fun and successful will increase.

Anything to add?

I’d love for anyone interested in tournament poker to come check out the stream. I’ll be live on the PokerStaples Twitch page, and I’ll be posting highlights on all the video platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Good luck to everyone in the MILLIONS Online series! See you on the felt.
