Adding to its growing stable of talented ambassadors, GGPoker signed Jason Koon this week to its player ranks. With $32.6 million in live tournament winnings, Koon is one of the most successful players in the game.
Originally from West Virginia, Koon sits in 10th on the all-time money list. He’s a regular at some of the highest stakes events in the world.
“I’m really excited to join GGPoker, particularly so soon after they’ve taken a leading role in the poker world,” Koon said in a news release. “I’m also thrilled to be in a position to help with game security and player advocacy, making GGPoker an even better place to play our favorite game.”
Koon’s role with company moves beyond just wearing GGPoker patch
In joining the GG crew, Koon’s role includes some special duties beyond simply representing the brand. Some of his work will focus on strengthening the poker room’s security and game integrity efforts.
Koon will also serve as an advocate for high roller, VIP and high-volume players, the site notes.
“GGPoker views this as essential in ensuring that VIP needs are given due consideration at all times by management,” the company said in a news release announcing the agreement with Koon.
GG has made some major signings in the past few years. Koon joins a roster that includes Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Dan Bilzerian, and Fedor Holz.

A major poker resumé
At the tables, Koon is a force and has scored on some of the game’s biggest stages. That included a win and runner-up finish in the PokerGO Cup series in July.
Online poker has also been good for Koon, who won a $10,300 Poker Masters online event last year at partypoker for $549,000.
A World Series of Poker bracelet has remained elusive so far for Koon, although he scored a runner-up finish in 2012. On Sunday he also came close, taking ninth in the $25,000 High Roller for $79,834.
A former college sprinter, fitness is a major focus when Koon isn’t playing poker. He and his wife also have a new baby. GGPoker management is pleased to have signed him to the team.
“At GGPoker, we view ambassadors as part of our overall team,” GG director of sponsorships and live events John Scanlon said.
“We want them as bought into keeping GGPoker the No. 1 site in the world as we are. Jason’s reputation and how he handles himself personally and professionally makes him an ideal global ambassador. Having a player of his caliber providing advice and direction, and representing the most committed segment of our player community, is invaluable for us.”
