The GOAT is a wrap at Global Poker and the three-week series paid out SC1,740,000 in prize pool guarantees. That included more than 75,000 entries, which smashed the series guarantee of SC1,100,000.
The series featured events in three buy-in levels: low, medium, and high. Players responded in droves, making GOAT just the latest of many US online poker events attracting massive fields.
Winners were rewarded with large payouts and here are some more details about the series.
Hefty Global Poker payouts continue with massive guarantees
The series held main events on Aug. 23 and a few players walked home with some big cash. Throughout the GOAT, the Global platform mixed in just about every aspect of the game including:
- Bounty tournaments
- No Limit Hold’em
- Pot Limit Omaha
- Re-entries
- Freezeouts
The medium buy-in SC110 Main Event featured a SC40,000 guarantee. Iowa’s “Itsdaperr” took home the top SC11,035 prize as well as a GOAT trophy and champion’s pack. The tournament ultimately paid out SC60,300 with 602 entries.
The SC218 High Main Event features a SC100,000 guarantee and actually paid out SC159,600. When the dust settled, Georgia player “RiverMeHarder” took the title and SC28,648.
The GOAT Tournament of Champions was held on Aug. 30 with “Venomx3721” coming out on top. The TOC champion earned a SC5,000 package to represent Global Poker at a live tournament event.
Continued growth, additions at Global Poker
The GOAT series follow the Summer Series and Rattlesnake Open III. In recent months Global has continued adding major tournament series and seeing massive turnouts.
Players have come to enjoy the big turnouts as well as custom winner trophies and other promotions.
Even players who just enjoy playing in Gold Coin (Global Poker free virtual currency) events also have some incentive to get in the action. Those tournaments also award champion’s packs and trophies to winners.
The site has added more action in daily events and ring games as traffic surged during the Coronavirus pandemic. That has also included some game play enhancements like:
- Brightened table themes
- Customized betting feature
- Note-taking on players at the table
- Better game alerts and sound effects
- Bounty tournaments

How does Global Poker work?
Those not familiar with Global Poker will find a unique social gaming option with a chance to win real money. The site offers players a browser-based platform using a virtual currency called Gold Coins.
Players can use these in ring games, tournaments, and sit and go’s. Gold Coins are for free poker and can be accumulated but have no cash value.
However, a player purchasing additional Gold Coins will receive another virtual currency called Sweeps Coins as a bonus. These can be used in separate games and events.
Players can accumulate these coins and exchange them for real cash and gift cards. Depositing and withdrawing at Global is a quick and easy process, and the site has seen record numbers of players in recent months.
The company’s unique sweepstakes model makes it legal in the US as well as in Canada (excluding Quebec). Global Poker makes a nice alternative for players outside traditional legal jurisdictions.
Players interested in Global Poker and upcoming events may want to subscribe to the site’s email newsletter. Beyond the information provided, players will also find a shot at some free money.
