Poker Pro Craig “hu4rollz” Bergeron Charged with Murder

Popular Michigan poker pro Craig Michael Bergeron, known as “hu4rollz”, is accused of the seemingly random murder of Tommy Ireland, 37, on Detroit’s east side. The incident took place on December 23rd, 2024.

Bergeron was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of felony firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. He reportedly fled the scene of the crime in a white SUV and assaulted another person near the scene of the murder.

The victim’s family described Ireland as a gentle giant who loved everyone.

New evidence has recently come forward from Bergeron’s private Facebook profile, which show Bergeron in an extremely paranoid and incoherent state. The day of the murder, there’s also a video where Bergeron seems terrified of the police, screaming: ““Look! They escort me out of Warren,” referring to the Detroit suburb. “They escort me out of Warren!”

The day before the murder, he screams into the camera: “They pulled a gun on me! They pulled a gun on me!” he says. “You gotta flash your lights. We gotta go to my house. Hey. Please. I’m sorry. Please.”

Bergeron previously had a very positive reputation in the poker community, with many on poker forums shocked at the news of his downfall. Bergeron, who is said to have once flew across the country to support a friend suffering from addiction, has reportedly went through severe mental illness over the last few years.

The 35-year-old racked up $1,330,964 in live tournament earnings across 41 cashes from 2008 to 2019. His career highlights include a 4th-place finish in the 2010 EPT Deauville (France) Main Event for $312,853 and a 4th-place finish in the 2012 Seminole Hard Rock Showdown $10,000 Championship event for $212,976.

Bergeron, who was once profiled as one of the best online teenagers in the United States before Black Friday, also won a WSOP Circuit ring in 2011, winning a 258-entry $560 No-Limit Hold’em event for $30,658 in Hammond, Indiana.
