Arguably the most prominent female poker player in the game today and one of the most notable overall, Kristen Foxen has signed as a new ambassador at a lesser-known poker platform: WePoker.

Foxen has been on fire on the felt this year with some big victories, including winning a US Poker Open title, but now she is making moves off the tables as well. To expand her influence, she signed on as an ambassador for a new online poker platform.

Foxen announced on her X account that she has signed on with WePoker, an Asian-based poker platform that shares a player pool with WPT Global. Foxen wrote a generic statement to promote the site.

The statement also included a message in Mandarin, which shows the demographic she is appealing to with this new ambassadorship and the focus on WePoker. It portrays Foxen with what looks like an AI generated image.

Other poker players made a few sarcastic comments and jokes about the announcement, as well as some confused ones. The main consensus seemed to be that Foxen had “collected the bag” by signing on with this little-known platform outside of Asia.

Indeed, you may be asking what exactly WePoker is and why Foxen has joined them considering the platform. Not much is known about WePoker, but it seems to be a growing online poker brand in Asia and there do appear to be a few reasons why this move was made.

Reach and Influence of WePoker

Poker in general in Asia has been booming with increased attendance numbers in APT events. That includes an increased number of female players and female-focused tournaments, as seen in APT Manila. The percentage of female players in Asian tournaments is typically higher than in tournaments throughout the rest of the world.

Therefore, Foxen is an attractive name for WePoker to land as she can appeal to a broader demographic of players, such as the ones in Malaysia and Singapore among others.

WePoker also has poker legends Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan among its ambassadors, as well as Croatian world football legend Luka Modric.
