PA Lottery And Scientific Games Partnership Is Stronger Than Ever

Last month, Scientific Games and the Pennsylvania Lottery reported on the success of the newly-launched online Keno game.

The game brought in over $2 million in revenue in the first few weeks of its debut. Keno was the first of a multiple game launch made possible by the gaming expansion law passed last fall.

The partnership has been a fruitful one

Pat McHugh, senior vice president of global lottery systems for Scientific Games recently said:

Our consistent and innovative work together has resulted in one of the highest performing lotteries in the world.

On the heels of Keno’s successful debut, the Pennsylvania Lottery added more online lottery games to its portfolio with the help of Scientific Games.

The Pennsylvania Lottery and Scientific Games launch iLottery

The Pennsylvania Lottery and Scientific Games recently launched iLottery. iLottery is a suite of online and mobile interactive games providing players the opportunity to win up to $250,000.

Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko talked about the new initiative in a press release.

PA iLottery games are a fun, new way to play and win from home or while on the go. iLottery is a big part of our effort to meet our players where they already are while generating new funds to benefit older Pennsylvanians.

Players can try their luck at the new iLottery games for as little as $.01. Demo versions of the interactive games are available for free at pailottery.com.

The brand new iLottery games include:

  • Big Money SLINGO
  • Bigfoot
  • Cash Buster Towers
  • Cash in the Lamp
  • Crossword Cash
  • Foxin’ Wins
  • Monster Wins
  • Robin Hood
  • Super Cash Buster
  • Super Gems
  • Volcano Eruption

With its iLottery launch, Pennsylvania becomes the seventh U.S. state to sell online lottery games.

There will be a learning curve for players as there is with any new gaming initiative. Accounts will need to be established and verified. There are several safeguards in place to ensure a safe gaming environment for eligible players.

The focus on online lottery games does not mean physical ticket sales are taking a back seat to the shiny new thing.

“We’re partnering with our more than 9,400 Pennsylvania Lottery retailers to encourage players to sign up for iLottery,” Svitko added. “Lottery games sold in stores will continue to be the foundation of our business and produce the majority of proceeds to benefit older adults.”

History of Scientific Games in Pennsylvania

Scientific Games has been partnering with Pennsylvania Lottery since 1975. It produced the Lottery’s first instant game in that year.

Together, the two entities have grown the Pennsylvania Lottery’s instant game sales to more than $2.7 billion per year. The Lottery sells the most instant game sales per capita for states competing with land-based casinos.

“The Pennsylvania Lottery is a highly valued customer, and we have a long history of investing in highly successful games, technology, and services that generate the highest possible returns for the Commonwealth,” said McHugh.

Expect this partnership to grow as Scientific Games continues to power Keno, iLottery, and future Pennsylvania Lottery gaming expansion opportunities.

Rumors have Scientific Games partnering with Penn National

Another part of the gaming expansion bill includes online casino gaming, online poker, and sports betting.

Penn National now operates two Pennsylvania casinos after its Pinnacle acquisition:

There is a rumor that Scientific Games and Penn National are forming a partnership.

With a well-established partnership with the state’s lottery, it makes sense for Scientific Games to power the online operations of a land-based casino such as Penn National.

It is all speculation for now. One thing we know for sure is Scientific Games will have a presence in Pennsylvania online gambling for the foreseeable future.
