PokerStars Open Adds USA Stop in Philadelphia

The PokerStars Open series will make its North American debut in late April in Philadelphia. From April 21st to the 27th, the relatively new series will bring its action to East Coast of the United States.

PokerStars announced the PokerStars Open at the end of 2024 as a new series to bring more poker to more areas with some more affordable buy-ins. The PokerStars Open replaced many popular European series, like the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT), Eureka Poker Tour, Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT), and the France Poker Series (FPS).

To this point, there have been several PokerStars Open stops across Europe. From Italy, France, Spain, and the UK, the stops are set to be successful across the board. The opening stop in Campione, Italy, was a big success and was capped off with an exciting Main Event. The rest of the European slate includes Dublin, Namur (Belgium), Malaga (Spain), and Manchester stops.

It only makes sense for this series to make its way across the Atlantic to a large American city with a ton of players in the general region.

The Philadelphia Series

The City of Brotherly Love will host the series with tournaments ranging from $300 to $2,200. There is plenty of No Limit Hold’em action to satisfy what are sure to be massive fields.

The series will be held at Live! Casino and Hotel, which has hosted PokerStars branded events before.

The Main Event from April 23rd to the 27th with a $1,100 buy in is the premier event of the series, boasting a $500,000 guarantee.

There will be PokerStars online satellites for series qualification starting on March 26th for players residing in many states. Anyone in Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey, as well as the Canadian province of Ontario can take their shot to try and qualify for the series.

Online poker in Pennsylvania has always been hot since its legalization and this in person series will no doubt boost that side of it even more.
