New PokerStars Open Tour Announced, Replaces Several Regional Tours

Following the cancellation of EPT Paris and heavy rumors of the end of EPT Prague, the PokerStars was keen to share some good news this week.

PokerStars announced the launch of the PokerStars Open, which will kick off in 2025 at six standalone stops. The PokerStars Open will replace many popular poker tours, including the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT), Eureka Poker Tour, Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT), and France Poker Series (FPS).

The 2025 PokerStars Open will take place in three brand-new stops as well as the 45th-annual Irish Open. There will also be PokerStars Open Main Events at EPT Monte Carlo and EPT Barcelona, the only two European Poker Tour stops announced to date.

Each stop will be headlined by a €1,100/£1,100 PokerStars Open Main Event with €1M/£1M guaranteed. Every series will also feature a very heavy tournament schedule, which promises to attract some of the world’s best players to locations they may not have otherwise seen.

“PokerStars is delighted to bring a series of new events to the European poker calendar,” said Cédric Billot, Associate Director of Live Events Operations at PokerStars.

“Our PokerStars Open stops are going to provide players with incredible experiences, with each location having its own unique feel that will come together as a European series that both ladders up to the European Poker Tour and stand up in their own right.

“We know that players enjoy travelling to other countries for tournaments so we’ve decided to make the move to the PokerStars Open as it gives us a lot more flexibility to throw million-guaranteed events anywhere in Europe, not just where we have established national tours.”

The PokerStars Open will begin in Italy’s Lombardy region at Casinò di Campione in mid-March, which is roughly 30 minutes from Como, one of the most beautiful places on the planet. This will be a new stop, with Casinò di Campione only having partnered with PokerStars in September.

After stops in Dublin (Ireland), Namur (Belgium), and Malaga (Spain), PokerStars will debut in both Manchester (England) and Cannes (France) to conclude the season.
