The Winter Series is back at PokerStars for players in Southern Europe and Italy. The series features three weeks of action from Dec. 25 to Jan. 17 with a total €21 million guaranteed between both platforms.
Players in France, Spain, and Portugal can expect 303 events with more than €15 million guaranteed. Buy-ins range from €5 to €250 with €1 million guaranteed in the Main Event on Jan. 10.
Players will also find a variety of other events including a €30 Phase tournament with €1 million guaranteed. PokerStars is also throwing in plenty of extras for players.
“The Winter Series has become a staple in our offering for Southern Europe and Italy and we’re happy to bring this unique year to a close with it,” PokerStars managing director and commercial officer Severin Rasset said.
“We wanted to give our community many chances to qualify for the series so we’re really excited to be able to award $225,000 in tickets through a variety of routes. We hope this brings some well-needed holiday cheer to our community.”
PokerStars Winter Series brings huge schedule to Southern Europe
The Winter Series action heats up this winter at PokerStars .EU with $15 million guaranteed. The €250 Main Event highlights the series and features the progressive knockout (PKO) format. The tournament comes with a €1 million guarantee.
A PKO event is a bit different than a traditional bounty tournament. Every time a player knocks someone out, he or she wins only a portion of that bounty.
The other portion is added to the winner’s bounty. A PKO adds some fun elements to the game. The farther a player goes, the more bounty money on his or her head.
Players can win their way into the series via the Winter Series Ticket Machine. This promotion offers players €200,000 worth of tickets from Dec. 28 to Jan. 10.
To take part, players must opt in via the challenges window. Those then playing a Winter Series event are entered into a daily drawing.
The higher the tournament buy-in, the more entries a player receives. Special €12.50 Spin & Go’s in France and Spain also offer the opportunity to win a Main Event seat. Here’s a look at the complete series (the first two unavailable at press time):

A look at the Winter Series in Italy
In Italy (using the .IT site), the series has a total guarantee of more than €6 million across 142 events. This is an increase of more than €1 million over last year’s series.
Buy-ins range from €5 to €250 with the Main Event on Jan. 10 featuring a €500,000 guarantee. Special €12.50 Spin & Go’s also run in Italy and a depositor freeroll rewards €25,000 in Main Event tickets.
The freeroll is set for Jan. 9 and players simply must deposit €25 or more to gain a seat.
Blow Out Series also planned for December and January
Players on the .COM platform also have plenty to look forward to. The new Blow Out Series is set for Dec. 27 to Jan. 19 with $60 million guaranteed across 268 tournaments.
The packed series offers up numerous types of tournaments and buy-ins. This includes four Sunday Big Blow Out tournaments, each with a $5 million guarantee.
A special $11 “New Year’s Bash” tournament is planned for Jan. 1 with $2 million guaranteed. That’s a big bang for only a few bucks.
PokerStars will award more than $85 million between the Winter Series and Blow Out Series. It should be an action-packed winter at PokerStars’ various platforms.
