Player pool issues may be resolved soon. A federal court ruling regarding the Wire Act may eventually allow partypoker New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan to combine player pools when all those platforms are in place.

In January 2021, a federal appeals court sided with the gaming industry against the Trump-era Department of Justice, which argued that the Wire Act applied to other forms of Internet gaming outside sports betting.

That would have limited online gaming expansion, especially poker because it would have barred interstate compacts. The ruling now paves the way for more, which could benefit partypoker and players in these three states.

Until then, partypoker would function in a “ringed-in” market in these states. That means players would only play others within that state. Shared liquidity may be on the way, but first would have to be approved by state regulators.

  • New Jersey – The seven-day average hovers around 100 on most weeks. Traffic tends to peak between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Pacific Time with 24-hour peaks regularly topping 230 as of April 2022. The site stood at second in the market.
