The World Championship of Amateur Poker (WCOAP) returns to partypoker Live this month in association with the Amateur Poker Association and Tour.
The series runs June 19-26 online and then June 29 – July 3 in a live setting, offering amateur players plenty of opportunities to get in the action. The schedule continues a trend at partypoker of offering both live and online options during the same series.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the WCOAP back to Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham (United Kingdom),” APAT CEO Leigh Wiltshire said in a news release.
“Along with the incredible online schedule provided by partypoker, recreational poker players will have an amazing two weeks of poker to get involved with. We hope everyone has a great poker experience in whichever WCOAP events they choose to play.”
Inside the partypoker WCOAP series
Players will find plenty of options in the World Championship. All tournaments in the series are freezeouts, helping to create a level playing field, according to partypoker officials.
The first starting flight of the £150 Main Event begins online. All players finishing in the top 15% of the field then head to Dusk Till Dawn to complete the tournament.
While the online starting flight is a freezeout, players who bust can still enter a live Day 1. The WCOAP Online comes with several tournament formats including:
- Six-Max
- Eight-Max
- Progressive knockout (PKO)
- Turbo PKO
All online-only events feature a $55 buy-in with the exception of the $109 Eight-Max Championship. That event is set for June 26 with a $75,000 guarantee.
A look at the live schedule
The series then moves to a live setting, the first time Dusk Till Dawn has hosted the series since 2013. The live schedule offers a variety of events including Short Deck, “round of each” (NLHE/PLO), tag team, mix-max, and bounty tournaments.
The Main Event resumes live on July 1 with an additional starting flight the following day. The champion will be crowned on the final day of the series.
All live championship event winners earn a commemorative bracelet on top of the prize money. Online satellites for the WCOAP Live are already underway.
Players can also buy into the WCOAP via holding tanks at partypoker, the LuxonPay app, or in person at Dusk Till Dawn. Here’s a look at the complete schedule.
