GGPoker Announces $10 Million In Extra Giveaways During August World Series of Poker Online

The WSOP Online bracelet hunting wrapped up on Sunday at GGPoker with players from France and Canada winning the final two events.

The World Series of Poker Online is underway at GGPoker and the site is adding more value to the festival. GG recently launched the $10 million WSOP Season Giveaway, offering players even more value.

The promotion features a collection of exclusive events running throughout August and giving all players a shot at extra cash. This becomes the highest monthly giveaway total in the poker room’s history.

“There are over 10 million reasons to play at GGPoker this August,” GG head of public relations Paul Burke said in a news release. “Daily leaderboards, exclusive giveaways, and all of this while WSOP Online 2021 is underway and dozens of gold WSOP bracelets are being won – there’s truly a lot to celebrate this month.”

What can GGPoker players expect

A major part of the promotion is the new “GG x WSOP Special Edition $1 Million Gift Box.” This offers players a tournament leaderboard awarding $32,000 in daily prizes for up to 1,400 players.

Beyond that, GG has planned numerous other promotions as part of the series. Some of those range from All-In or Fold leaderboards to special events for new players. Here’s a look at some of what’s planned in in August:

  • All-In or Fold Daily $50,000 Leaderboard
  • Spin & Gold Daily $50,000 Leaderboard
  • GGCare ($1.5 million awarded)
  • Rush & Cash Daily $40,000 Leaderboard
  • GG x WSOP Daily $32,000 Tournament Leaderboard
  • Hold’em Daily $25,000 Leaderboard
  • Omaha Daily $25,000 Leaderboard

  • Battle Royale Daily $1,000 Leaderboard

A look at the WSOP Online

The WSOP Online offers international players 33 bracelet events as well as numerous other tournaments. The series runs through Sept. 12 and features more than $45 million guaranteed.

The new $10 million promotions add significantly to that as well.

“One of the reasons I love GGPoker is how they give back to their players,” GGPoker global ambassador Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier said. “From the Honeymoon For Newcomers to Bubble Protection for Early Birds, and now the $10 million WSOP Season Giveaway, GGPoker gives every player at every level an opportunity to share in giveaways.”

GGPoker WSOP Online: Catena Media Poker Team Selects Players To Watch This Summer

The action heats up beginning Sunday in the World Series of Poker Online at GGPoker. Plenty of poker sharks will be out in force hoping to secure one of the 33 gold bracelets up for grabs.

Some of the game’s best and most recognized pros will be mixing it up online. The international version of the series promises some big prize pools and hefty payouts.

In the spirit of the series, the Catena Media poker team took a look at some players to watch and will update their progress throughout the series. Here are a few players to keep an eye out for.

Anthony Cicali, contributing writer

Daniel Negreanu (Las Vegas)

  • $100,000 PokerGO Cup #8 – 4th, $250,000 (July 13)
  • $50,000 PokerGO Cup #7 – winner, $700,000 (July 12)
  • $600 WSOP Online KO – 3rd, $19,851

Negreanu has been in the zone all July. He was awarded player of the series in the PokerGO Cup and has been grinding online bracelet events each night. Fans can expect to see some deep runs in the GGPoker bracelet series.

Ivan Luca (Punta Alta, Argentina)

  • $1,000 GGPoker WSOP Online 6-Max – 4th, $115,791 (August 2020)
  • $1,000 WSOP NLHE – winner, $353,391 (June 2015)
  • $25,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure NLHE – 5th, $140,460 (January 2019)

With over $6.5 million in live tournament earnings, be on the lookout for Argentina’s number one player. He could rack up some serious scores this August. Luca is a former bracelet winner and knows what it takes to get the hardware back.

Alex Foxen (Cold Spring Harbor, New York)

  • $600 WSOP Online PLO 6-Max – 3rd, $27,909 (July 2021)
  • $50,000 PokerGO Cup #7 – 3rd, $280,000 (July 2021)
  • $10,000 PokerGO Cup #1 – winner, $178,200 (July 2021)

Foxen is currently chasing the GPI Player of the Year spot for a third straight year. He’s had a successful summer so far and looks to grind GGPoker events all August. Foxen is currently one of the best players in the game without a bracelet.

Ali Imsirovic (Vancouver, Washington)

  • $50,000 PokerGO Cup #7 – 5th, $122,500 (July 2021)
  • $15,000 PokerGO Cup #4 – winner, $240,000 (July 2021)
  • $10,000 PokerGO Cup #2 – winner, $183,000 (July 2021)

Imsirovic is currently ranked number one in the world after a successful run in the PokerGO Cup. He’ll most likely try to stay on top of the mountain by playing as many WSOP Online events as possible.

Yuri Martins (Curitiba, Brazil)

  • $2,500 WSOP Mixed PLO Hi/Lo & 7-Card Hi/Lo – 1st, $213,750 (June 2019)
  • $400 WSOP GGPoker PLOSSUS – 1st,  $221,557 (July 2021)
  • $3,500 WPT Tampa – 10th, $61,325 (June 2021)

As one of the top online players in the world, Martins is expected to have another big run this summer. He captured bracelets in 2019 and 2020 and dominate mixed games alongside No Limit Hold’em as well.

Valerie Cross, content manager

Kristen Bicknell (Ontario, Canada)

  • Tournament earnings over $5.25 million, according to Hendon Mob
  • WSOP Online $2,500 6-Max – 1st, $356,000 (July 2020)

No sleeper here. Bicknell is a powerful force both live and online. She’s also had massive success in WSOP events, and this series should be no different.

A year ago in this very series, Bicknell binked her third bracelet in the $2,500 Six-Max event, outlasting a field of 892 for a $356,000 score. Look out for No. 4.

Niklas Astedt (Sweden)

  • Tournament earnings over $1.15 million
  • $1,050 WPT partypoker, 1st, $175,000 (May 2020)

This Swedish crusher is dedicated to the grind, cashing in dozens of GGPoker and partypoker events in recent months. In last year’s WSOP Online bracelet series, he finished second to Roberto Romanello in a 922-entry field in the $1,500 NLHE for $157,000. His close call will surely be a driving force of motivation for gold.

Ranno Sootla (Tallinn, Estonia)

  • Hendon Mob earnings over $630,000
  • WSOP NLHE Colossus – 1st, $597,000 (July 2020)

This young Estonian got his first taste of gold a year ago. The win came after finishing runner-up to Ryan Leng in the 2018 WSOP $1,500 Bounty for his first live six-figure score ($168,000).

It takes grit and perseverance to win an online event with a whopping 12,757 runners. That’s what Sootla did in last year’s series, so he should be up for the battle in the 2021 edition.

AJ Chabra (New Jersey, United States)

  • Hendon mob earnings over $1.35 million
  • WSOP $1,500 Limit Hold’em Championship – 1st, $77,000 (August 2020)

In December 2017, Chabra scored his first live WPT Main Event final table. He finished fifth in the $10,400 Five Diamond for $350,000.

His play and poise impressed, and he’s gone on to put up impressive results since, both live and online. His last win was in this very series in 2020, and I expect more strong results and maybe even another bracelet in 2021.

Sean Chaffin, PokerScout editor/site runner

David Peters (Ohio, United States)

  • WSOP Online $7,777 High Roller – 1st, $283,940 (July 2021)
  • PokerGO Cup (June 2021) – three wins, one runner-up, and the overall series champion

This American seems unstoppable lately and crushed the fields at the PokerGO Studio in June. He seems likely to be active at GGPoker in August as well.

Last year, he scored numerous cashes including taking down the $10,000 Heads-up Championship for $360,480. A fourth bracelet definitely seems a possibility soon.

David Paters has had a huge summer and looks to continue that at GGPoker. (photo courtesy PokerGO)

Mikita Badziakouski (Belarus)

  • $28 million in tournament winnings
  • Runner-up finishes in Super High Roller Bowl Online and WSOP Online in 2020

This live poker crusher has found some nice runs online in recent months. He’s scored on some of the biggest poker stages in the world including: Triton, WSOP Europe, EPT, and more.

Badziakouski has come close to a bracelet several times, but just came up short (three runner-ups, one third, two fourths). Look for another big effort in August at GG.

Ole Schemion (Germany)

  • $16.3 million in tournament winnings
  • partypoker WPT Montreal Online –1st, $35,631(January 2021)

Schemion has posted some nice scores online in recent months. With numerous final tables over the last two years, more success seems likely in the WSOP Online. He should be battling for a bracelet this summer.

Michael Addamo (Australia)

  • WSOP Online $10,000 Heads-up – runner-up, $223,488 (August 2020)
  • $10,300 Super High Roller Bowl Online – 1st, $228,800

Addamo has had a huge couple of years online, which included a runner-up finish in 2020 in the $102,000 Super High Roller Bowl event for $1.2 million. He’s been consistent in major online events and that should continue.

PREVIEW: WSOP Online Starts Sunday at GGPoker; Road To Vegas Main Event Promotion Kicks Off

The first week is in the books after GGPoker kicked off the World Series of Poker Online international bracelet hunt on Aug. 1.

A second month of World Series of Poker Online bracelet hunting begins on Sunday. After a month of action at WSOP.com, the spotlight now shifts to international players at GGPoker.

As in the US, the series features 33 gold bracelets up for grabs from Aug. 1 to Sept. 12. The overall series offers players $45 million guaranteed.

Along with the bracelet action, players can also qualify to play in the WSOP Main Event this fall as part of the site’s Road to Vegas satellites.

What to expect from GGPoker WSOP Online

This becomes the second year that players outside the US will be able to win a bracelet online. The $5,000 Main Event highlights the series and comes with a $20 million guarantee.

The first starting flight begins on Aug. 22 and players can enter up to three flights on their quest for the bracelet.

GG is also throwing in some extras for the Main Event winner including:

  • Custom site avatar
  • $50,000 tournament entry package
  • Team champions badge
  • GGPlatinum Fish Buffet Status

In 2020, Bulgaria’s Stoyan Madanzhiev took down the Main Event for $3.9 million. That event produced a prize pool of $27.5 million and earned recognition from the Guinness World of Records.

The win produced a life-changing score for Madanzhiev, who plays online poker full time.

“Before my WSOP win, I had to grind hard because poker was my main source of income and grinding was more important,” Madanzhiev told USPoker after the win. “I have more free time now. So, I spend some time with friends or just read or watch videos about stuff that interests me. I don’t think I started living some flashy life or something.”

No doubt many players are ready to follow in his footsteps and that includes GGPoker ambassador Felipe Ramos.

Big name Americans are also heading south of the border to get in the action as well. Team GG’s Daniel Negreanu is planning another month of online grinding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Plenty of action planned

Beyond the Main Event, players can expect plenty of other events. The site is not only running bracelet events but also a full schedule of other tournaments as well.

The Return” fittingly gets the series started on Sunday. The $50 event begins features $1 million guaranteed.

The $1,111 Charity COVID Relief is also scheduled for the same day with the $11 tournament fee going to charity.

As in the live WSOP series, GGPoker is also offering some of the big field staples. The $1,500 Millionaire Maker is set for Aug. 8 with $5 million guaranteed.

The $400 PLOSSUS runs Aug. 22 for Omaha players and guarantees $1 million. Here’s a look at the complete series.

More details on the series

The WSOP Online is currently underway at WSOP.com in the United States in New Jersey and Nevada. The series then shifts internationally for August. WSOP.com also recently launched in Pennsylvania in the US and is planning an eight-event bracelet schedule there as well.

As part of the GG series, poker fans can expect plenty of poker action at GGPoker.tv, the site’s official streaming channel. The company has recruited some big names to call the action.

Regular WSOP broadcasters Norman Chad and Lon McEachern will share the commentating duties on a few big events. Those tournaments include:

  • Heads-up Championship (Event 15, Aug. 26 and 28)
  • WSOP Online Main Event (Event 27, Sept. 9 and 11)

Along with the online action, the WSOP is preparing for live bracelet events to take place in Las Vegas this fall.  The company also recently announced the return of the WSOP Europe this fall.

“World Series of Poker is proud to partner once again with GGPoker to allow players throughout the globe compete for WSOP glory,” , WSOP executive director Ty Stewart said. “It’ll be the closest thing to the live WSOP tournament experience outside of Vegas.”

Belgium Becomes Latest Market for GGPoker Expansion, Platform Set To Launch July 31

GGPoker continues to grow and announced an expansion into the Belgian regulated market beginning on July 31.

GGPoker continues to grow and announced an expansion into the European regulated market on Tuesday. The company is launching into Belgium and players in the country can begin signing up and playing on July 31.

The move makes GGPoker a locally licensed online gaming site. The country becomes just the latest to join the GGPoker Network. The platform remains one of the fastest-growing poker sites and even recently overtook PokerStars as the top spot for cash game players.

Details of the launch in Belgium

GG’s Belgian operation will be run by Deba Square, a company licensed and regulated by the Belgian Gaming Commission.

The Concept Booth company has also partnered to market the platform in the country and engage with poker fans. Concept is a grassroots Belgian company that operates poker clubs and events in the country.

With the launch, Belgian players can win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet for the first time. The WSOP Online series runs from Aug. 1 to Sept. 12 with 33 gold bracelets on the line for international players.

As part of the series, Belgian players can also qualify for the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.

What to expect from GGPoker

GGPoker in Belgium will offer a fully localized experience of the platform’s software. That includes customer assistance in the local language with responsible gaming and customer protection features as required by Belgian regulators.

“Our partnership with a local company run by experienced poker event organizers is a statement of how we like to make GGPoker relevant and successful in a new market: connecting with people and genuine communities who share our passion for poker.”

Concept Booth organizers expressed their excitement with the launch as well.

“We are delighted to partner with GGPoker in Belgium,” company founder Kristof De Deken said. “Our company has been active in live and online poker for many years. The Belgian market is more than ready to welcome a new and attractive online poker provider, especially a provider breathing poker in every meaning of the word.

“We are confident that the entire Belgian poker industry will become stronger and more appealing for the players. A safe and controlled player environment, a premium user experience and local integration will be the highlights of the GGPoker brand.”

GGPoker Unveils New Flip & Go Multi Phase Events With Fast Action, Bigger Guarantees

GGPoker has launched Flip & Go Renewal tournaments, an addition to the already popular format but now with a multi-phase version.

As part of GGPoker’s monthly software update completed on Monday, players will now find something new. The site has launched Flip & Go Renewal tournaments, an addition to the already popular feature.

This new offering ramps up the Flip & Go concept even more in a with multi-phase version. These tournaments offer a fun and fast event with plenty of opportunities to get in the action.

How do Flip & Go Multi Phase tournaments work?

After jumping in a Flip & Go, players are dealt three cards. Each competitor then picks two and are all in.

The tournaments get players into the money faster and have become quite popular on the site. GG is even sponsoring a version of the tournament this fall at the World Series of Poker.

In the new Multi Phase version, players will find two stages. Here’s a look at each of those.

Flip Stage

Players start with a Flip & Go and can buy in for multiple stacks (up to five). The stage runs in a standard Flip & Go format.

One player for each table advances to the Go Stage, with their chip stacks brought over.

Some tables will have multiple players buying in many times for multiple stacks at their tables. Survivors of these will have an advantage over those who win a table with fewer buy-ins.

Additionally, players can join multiple Flip Stage tournaments. If they survive more than one of these, their chip stacks are combined for the Go Stage.

Along with moving on to the Go Stage, the Flip step also promises some bonuses. Those players who make these hands will win the corresponding bonuses:

  • Straight flush – 4x starting stack
  • Three of a kind – 3x starting stack
  • Flush – 2x starting stack
  • Straight – 2x starting stack

Go Stage

This section of the tournament runs more like a standard tournament. All players who reach this point have made it into the money.

This stage doesn’t start until all Flip Stages are complete. Multi Stage Flip & Go events are scheduled every hour.

The events feature three buy-in levels: $0.05, $0.50, $3, and $20. Here’s a look at the expected guarantee for each event:

Buy-inGuarantee
$20$5,000 ~ $6,000
$3$1,500 ~ $3,000
$0.50$500 ~ $1,000
$0.05$100 ~ $200

Flip & Go Multi Stage adds some fast fun to a traditional tournament. The events reward players with greater guarantees and more chances to win.

GGPoker Becomes Global Cash Game Leader; Bilzerian Battle Royale Performing Well

GGPoker has now become the top dog in the battle for cash game players, according to PokerScout tracking records.

After 15 years as online poker cash game leader, PokerStars slid into the No. 2 position over the last week. GGPoker has now become the top dog in the battle for cash game players, according to PokerScout tracking records.

“It happened pretty fast and it’s been pretty cool,” GG ambassador Daniel Negreanu noted during his heads-up match this week against Phil Hellmuth on PokerGO.

No doubt officials at the company echo that statement.\

A look at the GGPoker numbers

The reversal in ranking came over the last week as GG topped 5,000 cash game players, according to PokerScout’s player tracker. At the same time, PokerStars dipped below 5,000.

As of Friday, GG had reached 5,000 players for a seven-day average, compared to PokerStars’ 4,800. The battle looks like it could be neck and neck for a while and those positions may shift a bit.

By Friday, GG’s 24-hour peak reached 6,453 player compared to PokerStars’ 8,122.

GGPoker has continued to grow over the last few years. In 2000, the site began offering online World Series of Poker events and that continues this year.

A WSOP Circuit online series was held on the site in May. The WSOP Online also runs Aug. 1 to Sept. 12. The series gives players outside the US a chance to win one of 33 championship gold bracelets.

The company was only founded in 2014. Initially catering to Asian players, GG has shifted to a more global approach in recent years and found success.

Many players have praised the company’s software, tournaments, and promotions. The platform offers some unique features like the ability to stake other players.

Dan Bilzerian Battle Royale tournament producing nice numbers with unique format

GG ambassador Dan Bilzerian recently hosted a new event on the site. The Battle Royale combines multi-table sit & go game play with the site’s multiplayer “battle arena” format.

Battle Royale proved to be the site’s most popular new game launch to date, the company noted this week.

“The action’s been thrilling and intense in equal measures since Dan Bilzerian’s Battle Royale launched,” GGPoker head of public relations Paul Burke said in a news release. “The percentage of players coming back to take their shot in multiple games has remained at a consistently high level since day one, and the feedback we’re getting is overwhelmingly positive.”

Battle Royale is inspired by battle arena video games. Each No Limit Hold’em progressive bounty (aka progressive knockout) game begins once 100 participants have registered.

Some statistics from Battle Royale’s first two weeks include:

  • Total number of games run – 2,821
  • Average duration – 53 minutes, 25 seconds
  • Average first-place prize – 25.5 times the buy-in
  • Top first-place prize – $317 won by “Excalibur11” in a $10 buy-in event on June 12
  • Percentage of Day 1 players that have played multiple times:
    • 80% played two or more
    • 51% played five or more
    • 28% played 10 or more

How does the Battle Royale work? The game is made up of three levels and here’s a look at each.

Level 1: Rush Zone

This is a non-stop action Rush Tournament level. Players instantly move to a new table and are dealt hole cards whenever their involvement in the previous is complete.

This level ends once the number of players is reduced to 50 or at the 15-minute mark. If more than 50 remain, only the top 50 players advance.

Level 2: Shootout Zone

The remaining 50 players compete at 10 five-handed tables, each playing down to a single survivor. This level ends once there is a single surviving player at all 10 tables.

If more than one player remains at any table after 15 minutes, the gameplay changes to a Flipout format. The remaining players are automatically all in until all table winners are determined

Level 3: Final Table

The final level plays out as a standard final table. Each of the 10 remaining players is guaranteed a prize. The victor taking home the winner’s share of the prize pool.

Battle Royale seems to have found a following. It will be interesting to see if this kind of event catches on at other sites.
