MILLIONS Online KO Bringing Knockout Action to PartyPoker With $1 Million Main Event

The MILLIONS Online KO festival heads to PartyPoker Oct. 27 – Nov. 15  with plenty of PKO action and almost $3 million guaranteed.

Fresh off the MILLIONS Online wrapping up in September, PartyPoker is bringing more of the action to online poker players beginning in October. The MILLIONS Online KO festival runs from Oct. 27 – Nov. 15  with plenty of progressive knockout (PKO) action and almost $3 million guaranteed across the entire series.

The festival is a PKO edition of Party’s popular MILLIONS series and buy-ins range from $109 to $530. The action is highlighted by the $1,050 Main Event with a $1 million guarantee. Here’s a look at what to expect in the series.

What is a PKO?

PKO events have become a popular form of poker tournament over the last few years. They are a bit different than a traditional bounty tournament and come with some unique aspects.

When knocking out an opponent, a player only receives a portion of a player’s bounty. The other half is placed on the winning player’s head.

This format makes bounties increase throughout the tournament. The final winner usually has accumulated numerous bounties along the way. As bounties increase, players have some interesting decisions to make based on the total that could be won for eliminating an opponent.

The fun events are now found at numerous online poker sites and Party is again giving MILLIONS Online a PKO twist.

A look at the Main Event

The series offers a bit for every level of bankroll. Those looking to get in the Main Event will find seven starting flights. These feature players starting with one million chips and a 20-minute clock.

Each flight ends when only 15% of the field remains. Those players then progress to Day 2 and have already locked up at least a min-cash.

In June, 1,248 PartyPoker players bought into the MILLIONS Online KO Main Event. Brazil’s Felipe Boianovsky took the title for a total of $150,163 including bounties. The final table included Boris Angelov, Christopher Frank, and PartyPoker ambassador Patrick Leonard.

Other highlights from MILLIONS Online KO

Four other tournaments also stand out on the schedule. The $109 Mini Main Event comes with several starting flights and a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool. The $162 Opener offers $125,000 guaranteed with the final day of action playing out on Oct. 30.

Two major Weekender events are also a big part of the schedule. The $320 Seven-Max Weekender comes with $150,000 guaranteed. The traditional $215 Weekender brings players a $125,000 guarantee.

Numerous qualifying opportunities available

As in past series, the MILLIONS Online KO comes with plenty of opportunities to get in the action at a lower price point. Phased satellites return for a shot at a $1,050 Main Event seat.

These qualifiers start at just $0.01 and are already underway. The “centrolls” award $1.10 feeder satellite tickets. Players can then progress into a $6.60 Phase 1 and from there into the $33 Phase 2.

Those advancing beyond Phase 2 grab a seat into the weekly final with at least 10 seats in the Main Event up for grabs. There is no direct buy-in for these weekly finals and the first is set for Oct. 9.

Along with those opportunities, special edition SPINS are returning as well. These $30 events pay out a mix of $60 cash or tournament tickets worth between $109 and $1,050. Here’s a look at the complete series.

Satellites and qualifiers

Qualifying action has become a regular part of any Party series and that continues with the Grand Prix. The site again is offering satellite events for players of all bankrolls.

Satellites for each event are planned throughout the series. Once again qualifiers start at just one cent.

A look back at the summer Grand Prix

The Grand Prix Summer Edition saw 5,212 players for a total of $521,200 paid out, easily topping the prize pool guarantee. Players represented seven different countries at the Main Event final table with Brazilians taking the top two spots.

Lucas Ferreira Alves defeated countryman Igor Leao Versiani heads-up to score $49,693. Versiani snagged $31,621 for the runner-up finish.

PartyPoker officials are hoping for similar results from the autumn version of the festival. The Grand Prix has become a popular series appealing to a wide variety of players.

MILLIONS Online continues

Along with the Grand Prix, Party MILLIONS Online is also currently running on the site through Sept. 27. Site ambassador Patrick Leonard, of the United Kingdom, added his name to the list of MILLIONS champions.

He scored the title and $29,731 in the $1,050 Grand, which featured a $150,000 guarantee. The win added to a nice run for Leonard, who also won a bracelet this summer at the World Series of Poker.

Vojtech Skalak, of Czech Republic, was also another big winner in early action. He took the title in the $1,575 Opener PKO for a total of $71,466. The tournament saw 255 entries for a $382,500 prize pool.

TABLE TALK: PartyPoker’s Jaime Staples Talks MILLIONS Online, Streaming, Poker Tips, & More

Twitch streamer and PartyPoker ambassador Jaime Staples spoke with PokerScout about the upcoming MILLIONS Online series and more.

Players have no lack of online poker options in September and that includes PartyPoker’s MILLIONS Online, which kicks off Thursday. The series is one of the biggest events in online poker and runs Sept. 1-27.

The $3,200 Main Event offers players a shot at a huge title and a share of the $2 million guarantee. One of those heading to the tables is longtime Twitch streamer and PartyPoker ambassador Jaime Staples.

The Canadian poker pro has more than 155,000 followers on Twitch and has more than $1 million in online winnings. Staples is fresh off making two final table appearances in the McLaren Turbo Series. He spoke with PokerScout this week about MILLIONS Online and his life as a streamer and poker player.

What particularly excites you about this festival?

MILLIONS Online is the most important series of the year to me. It has some great events for everyone, but it’s also where PartyPoker has its biggest buy-ins of the year and some of the biggest guarantees of the year. I play mostly high-stakes tournaments now, so this is where I get to prove myself on home turf.

What do you think of Party, as well as other sites in general, seeming to do more than ever now to reach players of all bankroll levels for major events?

The best thing poker has going for it is the opportunity for everyone to be able to play together. If you have the buy-in, you can play against some of the best players for big money.

I think series including more affordable options, but where big players will still play, is just a ton of fun. I remember waiting hours to sit down to play with pros and play cash games online when I first started.

I imagine it’s the same feeling today for those with developing bankrolls and budgets. Poker is for everyone!

What are your streaming plans for the series? Are you planning anything special?

I will definitely be focusing on the Thursday to Monday slot, where most of the high-stakes flights take place. I think I’ll be streaming as much as I can on those days, but also listening to my mind and body.

When I need time off now, I take it. Hopefully I feel good through the whole series and I can get some great runs going.

How did you get into Twitch poker streaming and what do you enjoy about it?

I saw a post for Twitch Poker on the Two Plus Two forums in September 2014. It was a perfect time of life for me and I just made the decision to pursue poker full time. My mindset at the time was that I wanted to really commit to the game and participate in the industry along with being a player, so immediately I knew this was my chance to make it happen.

My favorite part about streaming is connecting with a wide variety of people from all over the world and having great conversations and discussions – about poker mostly, but also other things too. It’s just awesome how the Internet allows people to communicate at scale.

What’s one online poker tip you would give new players?

Be patient. Most people’s poker journey is short because they don’t set a proper budget and stay within it. They also feel as if they need to get to the top as soon as possible.

Poker is a game that can be played over your whole adult life. Be patient on your progression, and the likelihood of it being fun and successful will increase.

Anything to add?

I’d love for anyone interested in tournament poker to come check out the stream. I’ll be live on the PokerStaples Twitch page, and I’ll be posting highlights on all the video platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Good luck to everyone in the MILLIONS Online series! See you on the felt.

Also, the $320 Mini Main Event runs alongside the Main Event with $500,000 guaranteed. Other highlights include the $530 Super 500, promising a guarantee of $500,000. The $109 Super 100 comes with a $300,000 guarantee. PKO versions of both tournaments will also be available.

Even more PKO action is planned for the final week of the series. For those new to PKOs, these events feature a player winning only a portion of a bounty when eliminating another player. The other portion is added to the winning player’s bounty, making bounties worth more later in the tournament.

The $1,575 Closer PKO offers a $300,000 guarantee and the $162 Mini Closer guarantees $100,000. The Grand, with a buy-in of $1,050, is set for Sundays during the series with a $150,000 guarantee.

Poker fans around the world can check out the series as well. PartyPokerTV will stream all the final table action live on Twitch and YouTube .

Numerous qualifying opportunities planned

As in other series, PartyPoker is once again offering qualifying opportunities for players of all bankroll levels. Main Event satellites begin at just a single cent, with centrolls leading to a feeder satellite worth $3.30.

Players making it through can join the $22 Phase 1 event and then the $109 Phase 2. Those qualifiers then move into the weekly Satellite Final, with no direct buy-in and 10 Main Event seats available. Satellite Finals are scheduled every Sunday through Sept. 25.

Party has found several success stories via the qualifying tree recently. In 2021, Gareth “Gaz the Hippy” Smirthwaite and Vitaly Polikarpov both won their way into the Main Event through the centroll phase.

Throughout the series, players will find special SPINS events awarding Main Event seats. Here’s a look at the main schedule, but there are also numerous other side tournaments throughout the event as well.
