It’s a Knockout: Irish Poker Masters KO Online Premiers This Week at Partypoker; €1 Million Main Event

partypoker irish poker masters ko online debuts 2021

The inaugural Irish Poker Masters KO Online debuts at partypoker this week with action for players of all bankrolls. The series features 18 events and runs Nov. 4-23 with a €1,100 Main Event and a €1 million guarantee.

Players who love some bounty action will find all events in the progressive knockout (PKO) format. With buy-ins ranging from €44 to €2,100, there’s something available for all players.

Some highlights from the partypoker Irish Poker Masters KO Online

The KO series action begins Thursday with the first of four starting flights in the €320 Opener, which guarantees €250,000. The €55 IPM50 also begins on the opening day and comes with a €200,000 guarantee.

Even more action kicks off the festivities. The €44 Big 4 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Eight or Better (PLO8) also begins on Nov. 4 with a €50,000 guarantee. Players will find numerous starting flights throughout the series for these events.

That also goes for the Main Event, which begins on Sunday with the first of four starting flights. Days 1B and 1C will be held on the next two Sundays, followed by a turbo flight on Nov. 22.

The turbo takes place right before Day 2 gets underway on the same day. The final table will then play out on the last day of the series.

As in many partypoker series, the site is working to get more players of all bankrolls in the Main Event. Party is offering players opportunities to qualify for just €0.01.

The full satellite tree has these “centrolls” leading to a mega satellite final just before Day 1A this Sunday. As many as 50 seats to the Main Event are guaranteed in this qualifier.

What is a progressive knockout?

Those new to the PKO format will find a unique twist on a bounty tournament. Players all start with a bounty on their head as in a traditional knockout tournament.

However, in a PKO event a player knocking out another player doesn’t win the entire bounty. The winning player only banks a portion of that bounty.

The other portion is added to that player’s own bounty amount. The deeper a player progresses in the tournament, the more his bounty is worth.

The winner not only wins first-place money from the prize pool but also a nice number of bounties. That includes the money on the winner’s own head.

PKOs have become extremely popular and more online poker operators continue to feature this style of tournament.

Partypoker adds special event to series

Another highlight on the Irish Poker schedule is the €530 JP Masters. The tournament is named after Irish Open tournament director and host JP McCann.

The two-day event offers players eight starting flights. The tournament runs from Nov. 8-15 and comes with a €300,000 guarantee.

The new series comes after the Irish Poker Open moved online at partypoker during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are delighted to continue our association with partypoker and the new Irish Poker Masters KO Online is sure to be a lot of fun,” McCann said in a news release.

“Following on from last year’s successful Irish Poker Masters Online, this series will offer a superb range of games to suit all players. We would like to thank partypoker for continuing to offer events with great value online.”

Here’s a look at the complete schedule.

Promotions Rev Up At Partypoker With New F1 Documentary, Cash Game Boosted Hours Continue

Partypoker continues connecting with F1 fans via its McLaren Racing mini documentaries. The site also recently unveiled the Boosted Hours promo.

Partypoker continues connecting with Formula 1 fans via the release of the site’s McLaren Racing mini documentaries. In the latest See the Unseen episode, viewers get some insight into McLaren Racing with CEO Zak Brown (pictured).

The company has become a partner with the F1 team and has been parlaying that into promotion opportunities. That has extended to responsible gaming initiatives, tournaments, contests, and the video series.

In the exclusive interview, Brown explains how he has been a fan of McLaren since 1988. He recalls watching drivers like Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost racing for the team.

Partypoker viewers and fans can learn how Brown’s passion for racing drives him in his current role with the team

“I’m enthusiastic about McLaren and going racing,” he says. “I’m definitely a commercially-minded racer as opposed to a technical guy, so I’m probably a bit different to other team bosses in that sense. I try not to meddle, but I’m very engaged. I want to know what’s going on.”

More McLaren insight from partypoker

Brown, a former professional driver, has run the team since 2018. He recently oversaw McLaren’s first 1-2 finish in more than a decade at this year’s Italian Grand Prix.

In the partypoker documentary, the CEO also discusses how he tries to remain ahead of the competition. That includes plenty of java.

“I’m probably … 10 coffees a day,” he says. “You never quite know what the opposition’s going to do, but you can’t control what the competition does. We’re developing next year’s car now and we really won’t know how competitive it is until we see what everyone else has done.”

Partypoker’s first short documentary “See the Unseen” featured McLaren Racing F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo. (photos courtesy partypoker)

Viewers will also learn:

  • Brown’s favorite place at the McLaren Technology Centre
  • how he gets on with other F1 team bosses
  • his most enjoyable part of a race
  • how well he understands the engineering of the cars

The episode is available on the partypoker McLaren Access Hub. The site allows players to gain access to the inside track of Formula 1 and McLaren.

The Brown video follows the opening episode with McLaren F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo. More interviews are in the works with the pit crew and engineers.

There are also still plenty of opportunities for players to win McLaren-themed prizes by playing on the site. This includes special freerolls held on certain Sundays alongside Formula 1 races with $1,000 up for grabs.

Boosted Hours brings players extra cashback

This week offers partypoker players the chance to earn even more cashback points on fastforward and cash games. The Boosted Hours promotion has been expanded and is now running up to 12 times a day.

By playing fastforward or cash games during Boosted Hours, players can have their cashback points automatically doubled through Oct. 31. All Hold’em and Omaha play on fastforward and cash games can be rewarded. Boosted Hours run every other hour between 1 am and 11 pm (BST).

“Boosted cashback hours on cash games and fastforward is a great promotion in my opinion, and this is the best version yet, with 12 hours per day offering double cashback points,” Team partypoker’s Joni Jouhkimainen said in a news release.

“If you haven’t already, you’d be crazy not to jump in and take advantage of this.”

Players will see their points updated shortly after each boosted hour. Players earn two cashback points for every $1 of rake they generate, as opposed to one point during regular hours.

Those earning at least 25 points in a week receive their cashback the following Monday. There is no limit to how much cashback a player can earn.

Players can also reach the Diamond Club if they manage to regularly hit the 40% cashback threshold. Once players hit the required rake target of $100,000, their cashback will be topped up to 50%.

There are even more prizes if players qualify for the Diamond Club Elite, which brings 60% cashback. This status also includes packages to major live and online poker festivals, such as the MILLIONS Online in December.

Partypoker Roundup: WPTDS Wraps Up With Timothy Kelly Taking Main Event For $171,804

The WPTDeepStacks Online Series concluded at partypoker on Tuesday with Canada-based Timothy Kelly scoring the Main Event title for $171,804.

The WPTDeepStacks Online Series concluded at partypoker on Tuesday with Canada-based Timothy Kelly scoring the Main Event title for $171,804.

The series ran Oct. 7-26 with numerous events and some major guarantees. Kelly’s win capped a series that also saw one player turn a freeroll ticket into a nice tournament win. Here’s a look at some of the series action.

A look at the partypoker WPTDS Main Event

The $1,100 Main Event created a prize pool of just over $1 million. Kelly held the chip lead going into the final table.

A wire-to-wire run saw him secure the win, but Kelly had some tough competition to overcome. He had to out play such top-notch players as third-place finisher Felix Stephensen, of Norway, and runner-up Jerry Ödeen, of Sweden.

The final table was streamed live across partypoker’s social media channels including Twitch, Youtube, and Facebook Live.

Other partypoker series winners

The WPTDeepStacks Online included nine events with buy-ins ranging from $11 up to $5,200. Partypoker offered many free satellites and ticket giveaways for players to get in the action.

One Russian player freerolled his way to a big score. Sergei Brykalin was set to go on vacation, when he checked the partypoker Discord channel at the last moment.

Brykalin found a free ticket into the $11 Mini Turbo Knockout. After taking down a big pot with three tables left, Brykalin went on to claim the title.

“A player with 45 big blinds sat down and opened to 4.5 big blinds,” Brykalin said. “He opened to 4.5 big blinds again from early position, and I had pocket Jacks in the big blind.

“All my 29 big blinds ended up in the middle of the table, and he called with eights. Miraculously, my Jacks held and I was now the chip leader. The rest is history.”

Brykalin outlasted 8,952 players, turning his freeroll into an $8,834 first place victory.

Other players also found some big finishes. The series kicked off with Russia’s Aleksandr Zhilin winning the $215 Opener for $37,047. The event featured a $200,00 guarantee.

Another standout performance included Leonardo Nascimento Silva winning the $109 Mini Main Event for $32,261. The win continues a recent trend of dominating online poker performances from Brazilian players.

In the $109 Turbo Knockout, Jakub Wojtas grabbed a win for a top prize of $32,799

Christos Symeonidis also found a victory in the $320 Closer, which came with a $300,000 guarantee. The win came with a nice payday of $26,085.

More action in the works With Irish Poker Masters KO, MILLIONS Online

The WPTDS series may have come to an end, but more series are on the horizon. The Irish Poker Masters KO Online runs Nov. 5-24 at partypoker.

A complete schedule hasn’t been released, but the €1,100 Main Event features a €1 million guarantee.

The MILLIONS Online is also right around the corner, running Dec. 3-28. The series offers plenty of action to usher in the holiday season.

The €5,300 Main Event comes with a $5 million guarantee. Players can expect plenty of qualifying events for a large range of players.

Buy-ins ranging from mini versions of the bigger events to multiple high roller tournaments. Look for knockout events, turbos, Pot Limit Omaha, and more. The series should attract some of the biggest names in poker and a full schedule should be released soon.

Qualifiers start at just a penny

Once again, partypoker hopes to get players of all types involved and qualifiers for the Main Event start at just $0.01. A full satellite tree is currently running on partypoker ahead of the tournament.

Players have an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Yaroslav Bogaev and Nikolai Gorbunov. Both advanced to Day 2 of the Main Event in the recent WPT World Online Championships after entering at the centroll stage. Bogaev placed 39th and cashed for $23,499 and Gorbunov finished 99th for $13,204.

Also starting on Sunday, players can jump in qualifiers for the High Roller. Partypoker is running phase tournaments for that event, with buy-ins from $6 to $60.

These players can then move on to nightly $530 buy-in Phase 3 events. Players who advance then take their chips into the $5,200 buy-in Phased Final on Oct. 24.

“I’m very happy to have the chance to play in so many good tournaments at partypoker,” Team partypoker’s Joao Simao said in a news release. “And I’m sure the WPTDeepStacks Online Series will be an amazing series, especially with the satellite opportunities for players of all bankrolls.”

McLaren F1 Driver Daniel Ricciardo Stars In New Partypoker Video Series ‘See the Unseen’

As the F1 season comes to a close this weekend, PokerStars is upping the ante with a $220,000 jackpot in the Pit Stop Cash Drop promotion

Partypoker continues building on the company’s relationship with Formula 1’s McLaren Racing team. Team driver Daniel Ricciardo is part of the site’s new See the Unseen video series.

The production gives fans and partypoker players an inside look at some of the key figures on the Formula 1 team. In the short documentary, Ricciardo offers insight into what it’s really like being on the McLaren team.

“Through the partypoker McLaren Access Hub, partypoker and PartyCasino players can gain access to the inside track and discover the hidden world of Formula 1 and McLaren,” party brands and Entain commercial director Paris Anatolitis said. “Our goal at Entain is to provide our customers with the very best in digital entertainment, and this fascinating series of films is a great example of what’s to come.”

Adding more F1 entertainment options

The new series comes after partypoker parent company Entain became a partner with the racing team in May. In recent months, the companies have teamed up on responsible gaming initiatives.

Partypoker also offered players several contests giving players the chance to win complete F1 racing packages.  The moves come as party focuses more efforts at entertaining players beyond the poker tables.

The partnership also allows the site to reach racing fans who may be interested in poker as well See the Unseen is now the latest effort at synergy. Ricciardo has performed well recently, winning the Italian Grand Prix in September for the eighth Grand Prix win of his career.

Lando Norris also finished second, securing the first one-two finishes for McLaren F1 in over a decade. In the video series, Ricciardo talks through his approach to races including:

  • how he adjusts car settings
  • how he handles radio communication with his team
  • whether he has any race day superstitions
  • the music he likes to listen to before a race

“I love music, so I will always be listening to music,” he says. “It’s also a good way to switch off the noise and all the hustle and bustle from the grid. That’s the time to just zone in on the race. It has to be something that makes me feel loose and ready to go. Hip hop is a bit of a go-to, because there’s a beat.”

Partypoker gets inside the mind of a driver

Beyond pre-race routines, Ricciardo gives racing fans a look at how an F1 team functions. The Australian also reveals some interesting facts about his own understanding of the mechanics of a Formula 1 car.

“My job is to drive, and that’s it,” he says. “I just put all my energy into that. My friends give me a hard time, because they know if we’re on the highway and our car breaks down, they’ve got a better chance of fixing the car than I do.”

The episode is available to view in full on the partypoker McLaren Access Hub. More episodes of the series are coming soon featuring McLaren Racing from CEO Zak Brown, the pit crew, and engineers.

F1 contests continue

Partypoker continues offering players some unique F1 experiences. The recent McLaren Superfan competition saw the United Kingdom’s Ross Cartwright win an exclusive trip to the Italian Grand Prix.

Players now have another chance to win through McLaren Card Rush. The winner is awarded a package to the 2022 F1 Emirates Grand Prix De France in Le Castellet as well as $5,000 for travel expenses.

Players earn prize drawing tickets by playing regular cash and fastforward games to earn points. Earning a McLaren Mile earns a player one entry.

Partypoker Promotion Winners Cash In; Player Turns Penny Into $13K, Another Snags F1 Package

The partypoker dream of turning a micro buy-in into a big score came true recently in the $5,300 WPT World Online Championships Main Event. Thousands of players took part in centroll satellites to earn a seat in the championship event.

Nikolay Gorbunov was one of those and scored big after advancing through each qualifying level. He turned a single penny into a Main Event seat and then went on to finish 99th for $13,027.

“Partypoker’s centrolls are a great way to play poker as a beginner,” he told the partypoker blog. “I play them all the time, in addition to other freerolls and satellites from $0.55. I’ve played them for about two years as a way to try and build my bankroll.”

Earning a partypoker WPT seat for a single cent

Nikolay Gorbunov

Earning a WPT entry for a penny certainly isn’t easy, but Gorbunov shows that it is possible. A player must advance through several qualifying levels.

However, things moved quickly for Gorbunov. His entire run took place in a single day and he was right in the Main Event. The quick turnaround removed some of the stress of being in such a major event however.

“The first day was great in terms of emotions,” he says. “I stacked Benjamin Rolle with Aces in the blinds – he caught top pair on the flop. Day 1A saw my stack become very short because I simply wanted to get into the prizes, and I played very tight because the pressure to cash was great.”

Gorbunov advanced to Day 2, but his run came to an end. Down to 11 big blinds, he moved all in with Ace-Jack but was called by a player with a dominating Ace-King. While disappointed to bow out, Gorbunov was thrilled with the result.

“I have already bought myself a car from the prize money, although it is rather inexpensive and not new,” he says. “I will probably play slightly higher stakes, increasing my average buy-in to $5.”

Formula 1 superfan wins massive racing package for Italian Grand Prix

Another player also recently scored in a unique partypoker promotion. Parent company Entain announced a sponsorship deal with Formula 1’s McLaren Racing earlier this year.

Partypoker F1 winner Ross Cartright and fiancee Jordan at the track.

That has meant some opportunities for the company’s online poker players to win some exclusive trackside prizes. Ross Cartwright was one of the first winners when his name was drawn. He scored $5,000 and a VIP trip for two to the famous Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Cartwright loves F1 and is a McLaren fan as well, making him a great fit for the prize. He and his fiancee Jordan head to England’s Silverstone race track every year, camping throughout the week and watching the British Grand Prix.

“I started watching F1 in the late ‘80s,” he said. “My dad used to watch the races on Sunday, and he’d sometimes let me get up early to watch the flyaway races in Japan and Australia.

“I was instantly hooked by the Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost battles. Then I was a big follower of Nigel Mansell and then Damon Hill. I used to love it when the underdog teams won the race, such as Jordan at Spa.”

The pair were treated to numerous special events, excellent meals, and great seats for the race. They also met racing legends and the McLaren team including CEO Zak Brown.

“Overall, it was the dream experience,” Cartwright said. “Due to COVID, I didn’t expect to be able to be so close to the drivers or actually meet them.

“In the end, we did so much more. Hats off to McLaren, who really do look after their fans, especially us. We experienced and saw so much that it was hard to keep up at times. It was definitely a dream come true.”

Grand Prix underway at partypoker

The racing vibes continue this month at partypoker. The Grand Prix KO Series runs Sept. 19 – Oct. 4 with 16 progressive knockout events.

Buy-ins for the series range from $5.50 to $530. Players will find a two-day $109 Main Event beginning on Sept. 26. That event comes with a $500,000 guarantee and partypoker once again is offering centroll qualifiers.

Perhaps another player will make a deep run as Gorbunov did in the WPT World Online Championships. For a complete look at the Grand Prix, click here.

DraftsKings Seeks Purchase Of Partypoker Parent Company Entain For $20 Billion

The PartyPoker Championship Czech Republic is set for Aug. 8-15 at King’s Resort in Rozvadov with online qualifiers and starting flights.

Partypoker could become part of DraftKings if the poker site’s parent company accepts a rumored $20 billion offer. Entain  is one of the largest online gaming groups in the world and also owns the popular poker site.

DraftKings has reportedly offered $20 billion for the based in the United Kingdom-based company, according to CNBC. The possible deal came to light on Tuesday after Entain filed a report on the offer with the London Stock Exchange.

Details on the DraftKings-Entain offer

The move would create a massive sport betting, online gaming, online poker, and fantasy sports empire. DraftKings is a leader in the US sports betting and daily fantasy sports markets. The company also offers online casino gaming in some markets as well.

Along with owning partypoker, Entain also includes bwin, Ladbrokes, Coral, and numerous other online gaming brands. Partypoker remains one of the largest online poker operations in the world.

The poker brand regularly ranks among the top 10 sites in the PokerScout worldwide online traffic report.

In the US, the company also has a partnership with MGM Resorts for the partypoker US Network. That includes the Borgata and BetMGM poker skins as well as the PartyCasino brand. The partnership also includes a growing sports betting presence in several US states as well.

Party also partners with the World Poker Tour to offer live and online events both internationally and in the US. CNBC notes that a possible deal would need the approval of MGM because of the US partnership.

“Any transaction whereby Entain or its affiliates would own a competing business in the US would require MGM’s consent,” the company said in a statement per the network. “MGM will engage with Entain and DraftKings, as appropriate, to find a solution to the exclusivity arrangements which meets all parties’ objectives.”

What to watch

The deal makes for some interesting dynamics. MGM made its own $11 billion offer for Entain earlier this year. That was to be an all-stock arrangement, but Entain rejected the bid.

DraftKings has offered a mix of cash and stock for the company. If the deal goes forward, DraftKings becomes one of the biggest online gaming companies in the world.

However, there are some details to work out – namely with MGM. In the US, DraftKings and BetMGM are competitors in the sports betting and online gaming spaces.

MGM is a leader in online casino in the US. The deal would in essence have DraftKings owning half of a chief rival. The company could possibly sell all of its interest in the US venture to MGM, which has shown interest in acquiring full ownership.

In that scenario, poker players would find the US version of partypoker/MGM/Borgata completely separate from the international brand.

However, all these scenarios simply remain speculation at this point. The $20 billion may not be the exact figure as well. Some in the industry believe that figure overvalues Entain.

Partypoker history and possibilities

Party was launched in 2001 with poker legend Mike Sexton as one of the co-founders. The company grew quickly during the poker boom. GVC Holdings (now known as Entain) purchased the company in 2016 for $1.1 billion.

The international platform is now available in numerous countries. Party/GVC even owned the WPT from 2009-15 before selling the brand for $35 million.

Party has seen large fields across all its platforms since the Coronavirus pandemic. Online poker saw a massive surge over the last two years and party benefited from that as well.

The industry has attracted player pools not seen since the poker boom of the 2000s. However, it seems unlikely the brand is a key target for DraftKings. Sports betting and online casino betting opportunities seem the more likely focus.

A deal would allow DraftKings to grow that aspect of the business in the United States and beyond. However, adding a poker brand could benefit both companies.

Party could become part of a platform with millions of gamblers. DraftKings also gains access to poker players who may also be interested in sports betting and other gaming.

Plenty remains to be seen about a possible deal.PokerScout will continue to follow the story.
