PokerStars SCOOP Promises €15 Million Guaranteed for Players in Southern Europe

The annual Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) concluded at PokerStars last week after paying out almost $140 million.

The PokerStars community in France, Spain, and Portugal have plenty to look forward to when the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) returns March 28 to April 18. SCOOP Southern Europe features 360 events with a €15 million overall guarantee.

Beyond that, the platform is offering a variety of special promotions including the new Battle of Countries leaderboard. This allows each nation to battle for the top spot and some bragging rights.

SCOOP buy-ins range from just €10 to €250 and there should be something for every level of player.

Highlights from SCOOP Southern Europe

This year’s SCOOP features a plethora of tournament styles including progressive knockouts, turbos, deepstacks, and more. The €125 Main Event is the major bullet point for the series on April 11 with €1 million guaranteed.

The series also features 10 championship events with €250 buy-ins and awarding special SCOOP trophies to winners. Overall, the events guarantee a combined €780,000.

SCOOP players will also find three new “20 Special” Sunday majors, each with a €20 buy-in and €150,000 guaranteed. These new tournaments guarantee a total of €425,000.

Players looking for some big bang for the buck will also want to check out the three phase events. These events include: 

  • €5 buy-in (April 5) – €100,000 guaranteed
  • €10 buy-in (April 5) – €200,000 guaranteed
  • €30 buy-in (April 19) – €500,000 guaranteed

Several big SCOOP promotions planned

Once again, PokerStars has several major promotions planned for this year’s SCOOP. That includes more than €225,000 given away throughout the series.

The Battle of the Countries leaderboard has France, Spain, and Portugal battling it out to be crowned champion. Playing in SCOOP events will earn players points for themselves and their country.

The top player earns €10,000 in tournament money and a trophy. Second place receives €6,000 and third place wins €4,000. Player points from each country will decide the winning country.

Players from each nation can also enter a freeroll on April 24 with €15,000 in tournament money up for grabs for the top country. Runner-up earns €10,000 and third place wins €5,000.

The SCOOP Ticket Machine will also award €150,000 worth of Main Event tickets from March 28 to April 11. The promotion awards 86 tickets every day. To qualify, players must opt in and play SCOOP events to earn Ticket Machine entries.

A SCOOP Depositor Freeroll is planned as part of the series on April 10. The tournament is giving away €25,000 in Main Event tickets. In France, €6 Spin & Go’s will also award tournament tickets. Here’s a look at the complete schedule:

PokerStars Brazilian Series Debuts This Week; Full Schedule Released With $1.5 Million Guaranteed

The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) kicks off on Wednesday at PokerStars, running March 24-29 with 24 events and $1.5 million guaranteed.

The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) kicks off on Wednesday and promises plenty of action over the five-day series. The festival is once again running online at PokerStars from March 24-29 with 24 tournaments and $1.5 million guaranteed.

PokerStars recently released the complete schedule with the two-day $215 Main Event highlighting the series. That tournament is set for March 28 with a $400,000 guarantee – $100,000 more than the last series.

The events are available for all players on the .COM platform and all winners in the series also earn an official BSOP trophy.

Some highlights from the PokerStars BSOP

Players in the BSOP will find a wide range of buy-ins – from $11 to $530. Beyond the Main Event, there are also numerous other tournaments with nice guarantees.

First up is the $82 Start-Up on Wednesday, March 24, with a $60,000 guarantee. Players with bigger bankrolls will want to check out the $530 High Roller on March 29 with a $90,000 guarantee.

Most events feature No Limit Hold’em but there are also a few Omaha events as well. Pot Limit Omaha fans will find a $215 tournament on March 27 with a $25,000 guarantee.

There is also a HORSE tournament on the schedule with a $109 buy-in and $10,000 guarantee.

PokerStars opportunities for lower bankrolls

Players with smaller bankrolls may also want to check out the $22 Mini Main Event on March 28. That event features some nice value with a $115,000 guarantee.

The $11 Big Hit tournament broke records in the last online series for the biggest field in BSOP history. That event attracted 11,417 entries and comes with a $80,000 guarantee this year.

Players can look for another big field when this year’s event begins on March 24. The tournament includes five starting flights.

The $22 Turbo Wrap-Up on March 28 is also another interesting event and guarantees a $75,000 prize pool.

PokerStars is offering players numerous satellite opportunities throughout the series. Players can jump in qualifiers starting at just $0.55, which are already underway. Here’s a look at the complete tournament series.

PokerStars Promises Bigger Brazilian Series of Poker in March; Special Sunday Million Approaches

A trip to Rio de Janeiro may not be in the works, but PokerStars players can battle it out in Brazil virtually in March. The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) continues online March 24-29 with 24 tournaments and a $1.5 million guarantee.

Players competing will also earn some nice hardware with all winners take home an official BSOP trophy. It should be another nice series for players around the world on the .COM platform.

PokerStars Brazilian Series of Poker highlights

Buy-ins across the series range from $11 to $530. PokerStars has plenty of satellite opportunities. Players can jump in qualifiers starting at just $0.55 beginning on March 17.

The two-day $215 Main Event highlights the series on March 28 and comes with  a $400,000 guarantee. That’s a $100,000 increase over the previous series.

PokerStars massive Sunday Million coming soon

The BSOP is just of several events underway this month on PokerStars platforms. A big part of that is the 15th anniversary of the Sunday Million.

The $215 tournament is set for March 21 and guarantees $12.5 million. The Sunday Million is the longest-running weekly online poker tournament featuring a $1 million guarantee.

This special event should attract a huge field looking for plenty of extra value. The site has also been giving away more than $500,000 in tournament tickets through various promotions.

The tournament brought in 60,897 players and 93,015 total entries. That accounted for a final prize pool of $18.6 million – the biggest Sunday Million ever.

‘Our Voices’ PokerStars Initiative Aims for Female Views; Extends Women’s Sunday Discounts

PokerStars is working to reach more women in poker and has launched a new intimate to do so. To coincide with International Women’s Day festivities, PokerStars unveiled the “Our Voices” community on Monday.

The platform is a way to feature discussion and insights from female players. PokerStars hopes to use the space to directly encourage and engage in female-focused and general topics, activities, and ideas.

In recent years, online poker operators, tours, and others have worked to get more women in the game. Our Voices now become a  major part of that momentum.

PokerStars seeks help from community

To get Our Voices started, PokerStars is hoping for help from women in the poker world. Those who work in the industry, experienced players, and beginners are asked to give feedback on a range of topics.

Our Voices has “the aim of ensuring the game is as inclusive and engaging as possible for every player,” the company notes in a news release. Stars plans on using these discussions to ensure a female perspective in future plans.

“Poker is a game of equality but we know that not every voice gets heard or catered to,” PokerStars associate director of consumer engagement and public relations Rebecca McAdam Willetts said. “There is a passionate, amazing community of women out there and we want to ensure we are working with them to make the game better for everyone.

“We’ve been doing a lot of research and talking, and now it’s time to start really listening. That’s what Our Voices is all about. The amazing women in this industry will lead the way, and we can’t wait to hear what they have to say.”

Women’s Sunday promotion featuring lowered buy-in extended

Last week, PokerStars lowered the buy-in for its Women’s Sunday tournament to $22 from the normal $55. The company also added three special Sunday Million 15th Anniversary tickets to the prize pool.

The March 7 event attracted 256 players with the top three now taking their seats on March 21. The special Sunday Million guarantees a massive $12.5 million prize pool.

Additionally, PokerStars has extended the Women’s Sunday promotion with the $22 buy-in continuing for a number of weeks.

To celebrate Women’s Day, PokerStars asked women in the game to send their thoughts for a special video. This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge and the video features Maria Ho, Maria Konnikova, Jen Shahade, and numerous others.

PokerStars has celebrated International Women’s Day for several years. The company has tried to shine a light on women in the game. Those efforts have included various activities, special giveaways, and unique content.

Last year, PokerStars called on players to nominate inspirational women in poker to compete to win a coveted Platinum Pass for the PokerStars Players Championship in the Bahamas.

Players submitted hundreds of entries from around the world of poker. Company officials hope “Our Voices” helps further the cause.

PokerStars Celebrates Women’s Day With Reduced Tournament Buy-in, Sunday Million Tickets Added 

PokerStars is celebrating International Women’s Day by lowering the buy-in and adding extras for the Women’s Sunday event planned for March 7.

International Women’s Day is set for March 8 and PokerStars is getting ready to celebrate. Sunday is generally the biggest day of the week for online poker and Stars has lowered the buy-in for the Women’s Sunday event planned for March 7.

Women’s Sunday is a weekly event designed especially for female players. This week, the buy-in has been lowered from $55 to $22 in honor of the occasion. The site also has some extras planned for the tournament as well.

Added value for women this week at PokerStars

Beyond a buy-in discount, PokerStars is also adding three Sunday Million Anniversary tickets to the Women’s Sunday prize pool. The top three players earn $215 tickets to the tournament, which is set for March 21. That event features a massive $12.5 million guarantee.

PokerStars streamer GJ Reggie finished runner-up in last year’s Women’s Day tournament. She’ll be streaming the tournament on her Twitch channel again this year.

The site launched the Women’s Day initiative last year and received a positive response.

“We had lovely feedback from the community last year when we celebrated International Women’s Day,” PokerStars associate director of consumer engagement and public relations Rebecca McAdam Willetts said in a news release.

Appealing to more female poker players

Willetts said the company tried to ramp the event up even more this year. By adding extra value and lowering the buy-in, PokerStars hopes bring in even more women to the event this year.

The company promises even more engagement with female players in the future.

“We’ve been working behind the scenes, and while we will celebrate on International Women’s Day, there is so much more to come in our plans to make the game as great as it can possibly be for every player, every day,” Willetts said.

In recent years, many poker operators and tours have been working to get more female players into the game. That has led to special tournaments, promotions, training sessions by tours like the World Poker Tour, and more. 

The Women’s Sunday tournament has become a part of that as well. This Sunday’s special event offers late registration for an hour and a half. Satellites are also available starting at just $0.22.

Willetts notes that there are more things to come for the female player community. That includes allowing players to speak directly to company officials about all things poker and improving the experience.

PokerStars Carnaval Series Celebrated in Southern Europe, Italy with €15 Million Guaranteed

The Carnaval Series is back in February and March at PokerStars in Southern Europe and Italy with a combined prize pool of €15 million.

Online poker players in Southern Europe and Italy have a lot to look forward to in February and March at PokerStars. The Carnaval Series is back with a combined prize pool of more than €15 million.

In Southern Europe, the series is set for Feb. 21 to March 11 and in Italy from Feb. 21 to March 7. These are just a few of the big events planned on PokerStars over the next two months.

PokerStars Carnaval in Southern Europe

Players on the PokerStars Southern Europe platform there can expect more than 270 events with buy-ins starting at just €5. The entire series guarantees more than €10 million for players in France, Spain, and Portugal.

The €250 Main Event highlights the series on March 7 with €500,000 guaranteed. The €50 Phase Event also should interest players with a guarantee of €150,000.

A phase tournament is a bit different than a traditional tournament with satellite entries. Phase tournament allowed players to get in qualifying “phases” to qualify for the main tournament.

Unlike a satellite tournament, players who advance actually can carry their ship stack over to the target event.

Beyond the Main Event, the €10 Classic Carnaval Special PKO is planned for Feb. 21 with €300,000 guaranteed. This event becomes the largest €10 event ever in Southern Europe.

Players can win entry to the series through satellites starting at €0.50. Main Event entries can also be won in €12.50 Spin & Go’s. A Depositor Freeroll on March 6 also awards €25,000 worth of Main Event tickets. Here’s a look at the complete schedule.

PokerStars Carnival Series in Italy

At PokerStars Italy, the Carnival Series has over €5 million guaranteed across 105 events. The Main Event takes place on March 7 with a €500,000 guarantee.

Players can win entry into that event through €12.50 Spin & Go’s. Italian players can also take advantage of a €25,000 Depositor Freeroll on March 6.

Those winners also earn a Main Event entry.The schedule also includes several events in the progressive knockout (PKO) format.

In this type of bounty tournament, players only win a portion of an opponent’s bounty. A portion of that is also added to the winning player’s bounty.

That means each player’s bounty can increase throughout the tournament. This adds an interesting twist to bounty tournaments and means more bounty loot the deeper a player goes.

PokerStars Shapes Up Spin & Go Experience By Adding Tetris

The classic game of Tetris is coming to

The classic game of Tetris is coming to PokerStars. The site recently announced the launch of a new twist on its Spin & Go tournaments involving the classic video game.

Players will find all the frantic action of a game of Tetris and the thrill of Spin & Go’s in one epic experience. The new promotion comes with more than $1.5 million in prizes.

Stacking blocks and big bucks at PokerStars

The Tetris + Spin & Go tournaments run from Feb. 15 to March 28. Players can participate for a share of $33,000 in daily leaderboard prizes.

To participate, players can simply opt in to the Tetris + Spin & Go leaderboard at each buy-in level they desire. Players can get in on as many leaderboards as they want.

The objective is to earn points and post as high a score as possible on the daily leaderboards. How do the Tetris games work?

Players accumulate points by winning line clears from playing Tetris + Spin & Go’s. Every five lines cleared increases a competitor’s level.

The higher the level, the more points players receive for clearing lines and the higher their score will be.

Other PokerStars prizes on the line

Even those who don’t notch a win in a Tetris Spin & Go have something to look forward to. For every game players don’t win, the Tetris playing field begins filling up.

Players can track the status of their playing field at the table with scores posted daily. Additional prizes are also up for grabs for those who don’t make the leaderboard payouts. 

The top 500 players in each leaderboard earn entry into an exclusive daily prize draw. That includes $5,000 in prizes up for grabs every day.

Another medium for Tetris

PokerStars becomes just another medium to feature Tetris. The game was created by Russian software engineer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984.

Tetris has been featured on Nintendo video game systems as well as other devices. The game involves a player manipulating various shapes as they descend down the screen (this area is also known as the “matrix” or field”).

These shapes are fit together to complete lines across the screen, which are then eliminated. The gameplay is simple but takes strategy and has attracted fans around the world.

The game has sold more than 200 million copies – 70 million physical copies and more than 130 million downloads.

What might PokerStars get out of this unique partnership? The Tetris link again shows how online operators are reaching out to players beyond the traditional poker market. That includes players more accustomed to gaming on a mobile device.

The company also made news recently by signing international soccer star Neymar. Gaming fans who enjoy Tetris now may find a unique way to combine the game with some poker.

PokerStars Celebrates International Bluff Day on Feb. 7 – No Bluffing

PokerStars has designated Sunday, Feb. 7, as “International Bluff Day” to celebrate all things bluffing.

The bluff is a critical part of poker – whether live in the online game. Some might say it’s what makes poker so unique – the ability to win with an inferior hand.

What poker fan could forget Chris Moneymaker’s “bluff of the century” in the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event? With K♠7♥ and no pair on a board of 9♠2♦6♠8♠, Moneymaker made a huge raise with Sammy Farha holding Q♠9♥.

Moneymaker missed his straight and flush draws when the 3♥ fell on the river Rather than slow down, he made a bold move – an all-in bluff. Farha ultimately folded and Moneymaker would go on to make poker history.

In the spirit of the bluff, PokerStars has designated Sunday, Feb. 7, as “International Bluff Day.” The hoopla is meant to celebrate all things bluffing and the site has plenty of fun in the works.

What’s planned for PokerStars Bluff Day?

Why was Feb. 7 picked as the day to celebrate Bluff Day? Because 7-2 is the worst hand in poker, and also a specific date on the calendar, Feb. 7.

American players may note that date as 2/7, but the point is the same. The day seemed appropriate to get bullish on bluffing.

“You may get a bad hand like 7-2, but it’s up to you what you do with it,” PokerStars noted in a news release announcing the promotion. “You can make that bad hand, a great hand. It’s the way you play that makes a difference. And bluffing sits at the heart of this.”

“Bluffing can be applied to many aspects of our lives outside of poker and it happens in a variety of different situations, and the talent to successfully execute a bluff is respected.”

To celebrate this fine art, PokerStars is dedicating the day to the bluff. No doubt every poker player has bluffed at some point – whether successful or not.

And PokerStars is inviting players to share their stories and experiences about their own epic bluffs. Players can simply use the hashtag #internationalbluffday to provide some light-hearted tales for others to read.

Additionally, the PokerStars social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) will host videos and activities to celebrate the occasion.

A look at some amazing poker bluffs

To commemorate the day, PokerStars has even put together a special video with some great bluffs. Some of those flexing their bluffing muscles include poker superstars Liv Boeree and Daniel Negreanu.

The top bluff includes a seven-bet with K♠J♥. It’s quite an assortment of rounder fearlessness.

As if that weren’t enough, the PokerStars creative team also got in the act. The animated “Legend of the Bluff” offers a unique take on the beginnings of this poker concept.

Three more great poker bluffs to check out

Moneymaker’s Main Event bluff may be the best-known in poker. However, plenty of other big card-playing fake-outs have left victims frustrated. Here are a look at a few more.

1 – Bluffing Ivey

In the 2000s, Brad Booth was a regular in televised poker shows like High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark. Booth had no problem moving some chips around the table.

That includes this amazing bluff against poker star Phil Ivey. Amazingly, his 2♠4♠ got the job done and Ivey got rid of his pocket Kings.

2 – Miss Finland earns her crown

The Shark Cage welcomed Miss Finland to the pool and she ran an unexpected huge bluff. Her opponent eventually folded a monster hand. Not only did the victim lose the hand, but also got sent to solitary confinement.

 

3 – Scott Seiver ships it

Longtime pro Scott Seiver is no stranger to raking big pots. In this hand from the WSOP Big One for One Drop, he takes a massive pot from Marvin Reinkemeier.

This comes with an all-in shove and Reinkemeier folding Aces.
