Spring Fling: SCOOP Returns to PokerStars With Huge Schedule, $75 Million Guaranteed

SCOOP is back at PokerStars from May 8 – June 1 with a packed schedule of 318 events and $75 million guaranteed.

For many online poker players, spring means SCOOP is back at PokerStars. The annual PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker has become one of the biggest tournament series in online poker since debuting in 2009.

This spring marks the festival’s 14th year with the action running from May 8 – June 1 with $75 million guaranteed. Players will find a massive schedule of 318 events.

This year’s SCOOP also includes up to $1 million in extra value through a variety of promotions and giveaways.

“At PokerStars, SCOOP is a series that we really look forward to planning each year because we know how much our community enjoys the event and all the action that comes with it,” PokerStars managing director and commercial officer Severin Rasset said in a news release.

“As always, we’ve ensured that the whole community, whether they are new to the game or experienced poker players, can fully immerse themselves into the series, with a variety of buy-ins to suit all levels. The countdown is on, and we hope our players can use the 14th year of the SCOOP series to have fun and of course play responsibly.”

Highlights from 2022 PokerStars SCOOP

As in past years, SCOOP will feature Low, Medium, and High buy-in levels to cater to all bankroll levels. Players will find buy-ins ranging from $2.20 to $25,000.

The three SCOOP main events highlight the series on May 29. These tournaments alone offer players a combined $11.5 million in guaranteed prize pools. Here’s a look at the three championship events:

  • $109 Main Event-Low – $2.5 million guaranteed
  • $1,050 Main Event-Medium – $4 million guaranteed
  • $10,300 Main Event-High – $5 million guaranteed

The series once again features a wide range of poker variants. Some of those include Pot Limit Omaha, HORSE, Five-Card Draw, 6+ Hold’em, and more.

Women’s events become a part of the schedule

This year’s SCOOP also sees the first official women’s SCOOP events added to the schedule. These tournaments feature the three buy-in tiers and also take place on May 29.

The tournaments offer combined guarantees of $40,000. Here’s a look at the three events:

  • $5.50 Women’s SCOOP – $3,000 guaranteed
  • $22 Women’s SCOOP – $10,000 guaranteed
  • $109 Women’s SCOOP – $25,000 guaranteed

Additionally, the Women’s Sunday tournaments on April 24 and May 22 offer female players the chance to win seats into the women’s SCOOP event and other tournaments.

A host of tournament tickets will be handed out in both events. Here’s a look at the complete SCOOP schedule:

More extras planned for PokerStars players

On top of a full schedule of action, PokerStars promises $1 million in added value through various promotions. The SCOOP Pick-A-Box game offers something new for 2022.

The promotion allows players to pick from one of six boxes a day in a bid to win a SCOOP ticket. Pick-A-Box awards $250,000 worth of tickets each week throughout the series and can be found in the challenges window.

SCOOP leaderboards are also once again part of the mix. These offer $100,000 in cash prizes across four leaderboards: Low, Medium, High, and overall Player of the Series.

Each time a player plays a SCOOP event, he or she earns points based on finishing position. Winners and the Player of the Series receive SCOOP trophies to mark their success.

PokerStars will also offer Fast Track satellites throughout the series with $300,000 up for grabs. Players can qualify for the main events via Fast Track for just $0.50.

These satellites have four steps with four different tournaments to compete in. Players can buy in at any step with Main Event tickets awarded at step four.

If all those promotions weren’t enough, Stars is also running special Special Edition Spin & Go’s during the festival. Players can win SCOOP tickets via $0.50, $4, and $20 Spin & Go’s.

Several qualifying options and freerolls planned

PokerStars players can get in the SCOOP Afterparty action for free through daily freerolls. These award $250,000 worth of tournament tickets and run through May 17.

The annual SCOOP awarded more than $139 million to PokerStars players, exceeding the original $100 million guarantee. The series attracted more than 1.7 million entries across 102 events featuring Low, Medium, and High buy-in levels.

Player score $1 million via Spin & Go

Jackpot-style Spin & Go events have become extremely popular among online poker players in recent years. Players take a seat in these short-handed winner-take-all tournaments and the prize is determined randomly.

Players can double their money or win a much bigger prize depending on the prize that comes up. Last week at PokerStars, one lucky player hit it big.

A player named tagil94” took down a $10 Spin & Go that lasted 10 minutes, taking home $1 million.

The other two players didn’t walk away empty handed. “RayMcCoy2019” and “brusli82” each added $100,000 for their efforts.

This marked the third time in 2021 a player has won the $1 million top prize. However, this was awarded at a much lower buy-in than the first two, which came in $100 and €100 events. For tagil94, it certainly paid to play.

PokerStars Dishes Out $100 Million for SCOOP 2021; Series Set to Top $1 Billion in Prizes Paid Out

The annual Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) concluded at PokerStars last week after paying out almost $140 million.

SCOOP is back at PokerStars – and with some major loot for online poker players. The annual Spring Championship of Online Poker tournament series runs April 4-28 with a $100 million guarantee across 307 events.

This year’s series comes with some added cachet. SCOOP 2021 prize pools will push the total paid out in the series’ history to $1 billion. Players will find a variety of tournaments with Low, Medium, and High buy-ins from $2.20 up to $25,000.

This range gives new and experienced players alike the chance to claim a slice of the prize pool and a SCOOP title.

“SCOOP is a series that our community really looks forward to and plans for, so we’re excited to share the full schedule, a huge guarantee, and all of the promotions and giveaways we are holding to reward our players,” PokerStars managing director of poker, product, and innovation Severin Rasset said in a news release.

“We’ve ensured that players of all levels have a way in to this well-loved series and have added lots of extra value and more ways to win. And to give players a break from a busy online series schedule and for those competing in the SCOOP Player of the Series race, we will not run official SCOOP events on Fridays. Come along for the ride, have fun and play responsibly.”

Massive Main Event schedule highlights PokerStars SCOOP in 2021

This year’s SCOOP features a plethora of options – from No Limit Hold’em and Omaha to HORSE and Seven Card Stud. Players will also find numerous game styles including turbos, progrssive knockouts, deepstacks, and much more.

Players seeking some major SCOOP glory have plenty to look forward to. That includes six Main Events scheduled on April 25. These tournaments award more than $15 million and allow every type of player to get involved.

The championship events offer something for No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha fans. Here’s a look at the events:

SCOOP leaderboards paying big bucks for all player levels

On top of the guaranteed payouts, PokerStars has added $1.6 million in value through giveaways and qualifying opportunities. The SCOOP leaderboards are a major part of that and something is available for every bankroll.

The site is offering $100,000 in cash prizes in four leaderboards. Those finishing atop the standings and the Player of the Series winner will also receive trophies.

Every player participating in a SCOOP event receives points based on finishing position. The four leaderboards are divided up for tournaments with Low, Medium, and High buy-ins. The overall Player of the Series also awards the best overall competitor.

Plenty of of extras planned throughout series

The leaderboards aren’t the only way to earn some freebies. The SCOOP Ticket Machine will award $1.5 million in SCOOP tournament tickets beginning March 28. Anyone entering a SCOOP event earns entry into daily drawings for a chance to win.

The SCOOP Fast Track promotion offers players a chance to qualify for the $10,300 High Main Event ($5 million guarantee) for just $1. Entries into the other championship events are also on the line.

Fast Track tournaments feature four steps with four different tournaments. Players can buy in at any step with Main Event tickets awarded at Step 4.

PokerStars will also be offering special $4 and $22 Spin & Go’s giving away SCOOP tickets.

As part of the company’s ongoing activities for female poker players, the $22 Women’s Sunday tournament on April 4 will also award:

  • a $530 SCOOP ticket for first place

POKER BOOM CONTINUES: SCOOP Produces Record-Breaking $185 Million for PokerStars

The 2020 PokerStars SCOOP paid out $185 million.

As more online poker operators announced massive turnouts, PokerStars also trumpeted its own gargantuan numbers last week. The Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) remains one of the platform’s most popular events and 2020 proved the biggest yet.

With players around the globe at home during the Coronavirus pandemic, many headed to PokerStars. This year SCOOP awarded more than $185 million, the biggest total prize pool in the history of online poker.

Record prize pool reached after PokerStars adds to series

After early SCOOP success, PokerStars bumped up the schedule with 44 additional events. The company also moved the $85 million guarantee to $135 million.

That proved to be a wise decision and produced more than 2.9 million player entries over 124 events. The schedule actually included three separate tournaments for each event: Low, Medium, and High.

All three Main Events surpassed guarantees. The $109 buy-in Low edition produced 46,238 entries for a $4.6 million prize pool. The winner, “auercan,” took home $371,750.

The $1,050 Medium buy-in Main Event awarded $6.5 million with 6,475 entries. “HayashiJoão” earned a huge $920,066 for first place.

A player named “Alexgirs” won the biggest prize of the entire series in the $10,300 Main Event High. The tournament awarded $6.1 million with 609 entries and the winner secured a nice $920,595

The United Kingdom topped the country leaderboard with 46 wins. Brazil followed in second with 45 wins.

UK players “raidalot” and “pads1161” secured more than 90 cashes, taking home $519,276 and $258,584  respectively.

PokerStars SCOOP success stories

Beyond those main event wins, several other players produced some nice stories during the series. PokerStars ambassador Lex Veldhuis smashed his own and the Twitch Poker record after reaching 58,543 concurrent viewers during Day 3 of the High Main Event.

At one point, Veldhuis even had the most-watched channel on Twitch, topping 128,000 other streams. Other interesting notes include:

  • Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira was crowned Player of the Series. This comes after some massive live scores for this Portuguese player in 2019 on the European Poker Tour.
  • Connor “blanconegro” Drinan broke records after winning the most events in a single SCOOP series. The American won five events for a total of more than $550,000 in prize money.
  • PokerStars Ambassador Fintan Hand earned the biggest cash of his career. The Twitch streamer from Ireland won a $1,050 Six-Max Turbo Shootout for a $73,652 payday.

Satellite qualifiers scored big in SCOOP

With plenty of satellites throughout SCOOP, there were plenty of nice success stories. Here’s a look at a few of those:

  • neGREENu” produced one of the biggest satellite scores. This player turned $11 into $37,008 after finishing in fourth place in the $109  NLHE Progressive KO event.
  • alexandro156” turned a $1.45 satellite into $21,612 after placing second in a $11 NLHE Progressive KO event.
  • chikitin099” earned $27,009 after qualifying for $5.50 after coming second in a $22 PLO Six-Max.

Another SCOOP may be in the books, but live poker is still not available for many. With so many players around the world still at home there’s a good chance more big series will continue.
