The Triton Super High Roller Poker Series kicked off the 2025 campaign with its first event of the year on the island of Jeju off the coast of South Korea. After a successful Triton Series in 2024 that included some big winners, it was time to start it up in 2025.
It is a series chock-full of events over 18 days from February 26-March 15 at the Landing Casino as a part of Shinhwa World in Jeju. This is not the first time the Triton Series has been to Jeju as it has become a regular stomping ground for the high roller series.
The last time we saw the Triton Series in action was in The Bahamas in December that led into WSOP Paradise so this series in Jeju broke a two and a half month hiatus.
Jeju Action
So far in the series, there have been 13 different events completed. The events have drawn huge numbers for the huge buy-in events to create gargantuan prizepools. This has added to Triton’s growing reputation in the poker world which led to a couple of nominations for the series in the 2024 Global Poker Awards.
All of the events were No-Limit Hold’em except for one PLO event so far. Let’s start there as we take a quick look over the results.
Second Oldest Winner
Event #13: $25,000 PLO 6-Handed was a 117 entry event that was won by Norweigan Tom-Askell Bedell. The 64 year old remarkably defeated both poker legends Erik Seidel and Phil Ivey at the final table en route to the $709,000 top prize.
Notably, Bedell becomes the second oldest player to ever win a Triton Series title, trailing only Richard Yong who was just one year older at 65 when he won his Triton title.
This comes on the heels of Bedell winning the PLO Grand Slam Championship in Albania at the end of January for a €438,000 top prize.
Largest Six-Figure Buy in Tournament Ever
One of the highlights of the series was Event #11: $100,000 NLH Main Event which made history as the largest ever poker tournament to offer a six-figure buy-in.
The whopping 285 entries created a prizepool of $28,500,000. Despite the high buy in and regiment of some of the best players in the world, the winner ended up being a recreational player from China.

Despite perhaps not being quite an expert on in depth poker strategy, the 35 year old Huang Wenjie won the $5,550,000 top prize after he defeated legendary player Dan “Jungleman” Cates heads up to conquer a loaded final table that included Artur Martirosian, Sam Greenwood, and Nacho Barbrero.
Vieira Breaks Through
The highest buy in event of the Jeju series was Event #9: $150,000 NLH and a familiar name took down his first career Triton Series title. Joao Vieira of Portugal got sweet redemption with his first title as he was the runner-up to Alex Foxen in the $100K WSOP Triton Main Event in December in The Bahamas.
After coming so close to a title, Vieira vowed that his first Triton win was coming soon and he delivered on that promise just a couple of months later for $4,610,000 after besting the 128-entry field.

The Portuguese high roller now has well over $17 million in career earnings as he becomes more and more of a factor on the Triton Series.
Outside of these premier events; Jeremy Ausmus, Anatoly Filatov, Mario Mosboeck, Brynn Kenney and Punnat Punsri were some of the most notable winners of the other events. All with seven-figure scores as the money just continues to flow at the Jeju series.
