This November, Florida<\/strong> voters have a constitutional amendment on the ballot\u2013Amendment 3<\/strong>. The issue is \u201cvoter control of gambling in Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n Supporters of the liberalization of gambling<\/strong>\u2013and especially online gambling<\/strong>\u2013may mistake this for a pro-gambling amendment. According to big operators like DraftKings<\/strong> and FanDuel<\/strong>, nothing could be further from the truth.<\/p>\n The sponsors behind the measure tell you all there is to know\u2013Disney<\/strong> and the Seminole Tribe<\/strong>. Both have been longtime opponents<\/strong> of any expansion of gambling in Florida.<\/p>\n The Seminole Tribe hands over $250 million<\/strong> a year to the state government in return for what is almost a monopoly on gambling<\/strong> in the state.<\/p>\n Disney is opposed on principle, but additionally doesn\u2019t want to see any more competition for its Disneyworld theme park.<\/p>\nGaming companies oppose the amendment<\/span><\/h2>\n
