The <strong>World Cup<\/strong> international competition is now on the horizon for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uspoker.com\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online poker<\/a> app and set for December.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event allows players to represent their country and take on the best players in the game. <strong>Cash prizes<\/strong> will also be up for grabs.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFrom the start, we\u2019ve wanted to be much more than an app, we\u2019ve wanted to be a sport \u2013\u00a0albeit one that is played via an app,\u201d head of customer relations <strong>Jake Colman<\/strong> says. \u201cBeing a sport necessarily involves holding championship events, world cups, and other big events to determine the best players in the sport of poker. So this is the first time we are offering the pinnacle of our sport.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-sheets-value=\"{&quot;1&quot;:2,&quot;2&quot;:&quot; &quot;}\" data-sheets-userformat=\"{&quot;2&quot;:12416,&quot;10&quot;:2,&quot;15&quot;:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;16&quot;:12}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"qualifying_for_the_match_poker_world_cup\">Qualifying for the Match Poker World Cup<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get in the action, players must meet the <strong>eligibility<\/strong> requirement by downloading and playing on the app. Competitors must have achieved at least one of the following by <strong>Nov. 27<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reached an IFMP (International Federation of Match Poker) rating of 1,200 or above<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">be in the top 15% of the <strong>Ivory<\/strong>, <strong>Sapphire<\/strong>, or <strong>Emerald<\/strong> tiers of IFMP Ratings<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">be among the top 15% of eligible players in any <strong>Premiership<\/strong> season<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won a weekly challenge\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won a special event, such as the May Cup or Battle Weekend<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About <strong>400 players<\/strong> are in the World Cup pool so far, but players can still qualify. Eligible players will be notified via email.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"525\" data-lang=\"en\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/matchpoker\/status\/1587293628753387522\"><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span id=\"how_does_match_poker_work\">How does Match Poker work?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Launched in February, the free poker app features a \u201c<strong>Battle Royale<\/strong>\u201d game. The app is much different than a traditional free-to-play <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uspoker.com\/poker-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poker app<\/a>. Match Poker turns the game into a sporting competition without having to risk your own bankroll.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Players get a chance to test their skills against players all over the world. All players are tested in a poker situation that includes <strong>36 contestants<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each seat is dealt the same hand across tables. Whoever scores best in each situation moves on and is awarded points.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This helps take luck out of the game and focuses on particular hand situations. The app can be a nice training tool, helping players see different scenarios in real time. It also is continually improving as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to start analyzing everything from how often you make it to showdown, win at showdown, three-bet or fold to a three-bet, continuation bet, or move all in,\u201d Colman says. \u201cEach statistic tells the player where they are, and where they should be.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span id=\"a_look_at_the_world_cup\">A look at the World Cup<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The World Cup features a playoff series and concludes with a finals consisting of players of the same rating tier. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pokerscout.com\/games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tournament play<\/a> showcases Match Poker Online\u2019s new \u201c<strong>Triple Battle<\/strong>\u201d format, which sees players compete in one Battle Royale each hour for three consecutive hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The top 36 players then advance in the finals. The series comes after months of planning and continuous growth on the app.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhat\u2019s been wonderful to see has been the enthusiasm from our players,\u201d Colman says. \u201cEach of our matches goes for <strong>30-45 minutes<\/strong>, and heaps of players play 20 or so matches each week, which is a wonderful commitment of time and effort.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;There are some players who have played more than <strong>100 matches<\/strong> a month! Adding even more players at all skill levels gets us closer to our goal of running matches almost instantaneously. Happily, we\u2019re getting closer.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The playoffs take place Dec. 3-4 for most players with the finals playing out on Dec. 10-11. For <a href=\"http:\/\/uspoker.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US players<\/a>, those dates are Dec. 2-3 with the finals on Dec. 9-10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The winner of the Ruby division, the top competition, is crowned the overall <strong>World Cup champion<\/strong>. And even though it\u2019s a free app, Match Poker Online is awarding cash prizes.
