Davies has been prolific in 2024. Here\u2019s what he\u2019s already achieved this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Over $8.6m in tournament cashes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>15 final tables<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>3 tournament wins<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Climbed to 23rd on poker\u2019s All-Time Money List<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But that doesn\u2019t mean it was all smooth sailing. In his $100k PLO win, Davies came back from just two big blinds at the final table to win the event outright, proving that you truly do only need a chip and a chair. The rest of the field breathed a collective sigh of relief, as the 45-year-old American has been running hot in 2024 and is on track to top the PGT Leaderboard.<\/p>\n<p>Benjamin Tollerene (7th) and Sam Soverel (6th) both fell before Day 1 came to a close, leaving five players for the Day 2 final table. Davies was far from the favorite when action began on Day 2, with Jared Bleznick not only boasting the chip lead, but also having the huge psychological edge of being the defending champion. Back-to-back wins were within reach.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"arieh_first_to_fall\">Arieh First to Fall<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Short stack Josh Arieh was the first player to hit the rail on Day 2, with Sean Winter moving into pole position.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, four-handed and with a relatively short stack, things were getting desperate for Davies, and an ill-timed bluff saw him relegated to just a couple of big blinds.<\/p>\n<p>He rallied enough to stay in the game and then took a step back as a blank river meant Maksimov doubled through Bleznick, holding the ace-high straight against the returning champ\u2019s three pair and nut flush draw.<\/p>\n<p>That hand proved to be too crushing for Bleznick to come back from, and Davies was the one to finish him off with <span class='pcblock pcblock- pcblock-standard-standard pcblock-font-Roboto_Condensed ps-cutompoker'><span class='pccard pccard-hearts pccard-' title='Queen of Hearts'><span class='pcrank'>Q<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-hearts'>&hearts;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-clubs pccard-' title='Jack of Clubs'><span class='pcrank'>J<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-clubs'>&clubs;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-hearts pccard-' title='Nine of Hearts'><span class='pcrank'>9<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-hearts'>&hearts;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-clubs pccard-' title='Nine of Clubs'><span class='pcrank'>9<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-clubs'>&clubs;<\/span><\/span><\/span>. He raised it up with <span class='pcblock pcblock- pcblock-standard-standard pcblock-font-Roboto_Condensed ps-cutompoker'><span class='pccard pccard-spades pccard-' title='Ace of Spades'><span class='pcrank'>A<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-spades'>&spades;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-diams pccard-' title='Ace of Diamonds'><span class='pcrank'>A<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-diams'>&diams;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-diams pccard-' title='Nine of Diamonds'><span class='pcrank'>9<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-diams'>&diams;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-spades pccard-' title='Three of Spades'><span class='pcrank'>3<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-spades'>&spades;<\/span><\/span><\/span> and fired on every street after improving to a full house. When Maksimov picked up <span class='pcblock pcblock- pcblock-standard-standard pcblock-font-Roboto_Condensed ps-cutompoker'><span class='pccard pccard-spades pccard-' title='Ace of Spades'><span class='pcrank'>A<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-spades'>&spades;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-clubs pccard-' title='King of Clubs'><span class='pcrank'>K<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-clubs'>&clubs;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-clubs pccard-' title='Eight of Clubs'><span class='pcrank'>8<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-clubs'>&clubs;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-spades pccard-' title='Seven of Spades'><span class='pcrank'>7<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-spades'>&spades;<\/span><\/span><\/span> and three-bet to 900,000, he had less than a pot-sized shove left for the <span class='pcblock pcblock- pcblock-standard-standard pcblock-font-Roboto_Condensed ps-cutompoker'><span class='pccard pccard-hearts pccard-' title='Queen of Hearts'><span class='pcrank'>Q<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-hearts'>&hearts;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-hearts pccard-' title='Four of Hearts'><span class='pcrank'>4<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-hearts'>&hearts;<\/span><\/span><span class='pccard pccard-diams pccard-' title='Three of Diamonds'><span class='pcrank'>3<\/span><span class='pcsuite pcsuite-diams'>&diams;<\/span><\/span><\/span> flop.
