{"id":7741,"date":"2018-06-06T22:03:06","date_gmt":"2018-06-06T22:03:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pokerscout.com\/?p=7741"},"modified":"2018-06-07T16:00:38","modified_gmt":"2018-06-07T16:00:38","slug":"mgm-springfield-casino-resort-after-hours-drinking-spot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pokerscout.com\/mgm-springfield-casino-resort-after-hours-drinking-spot\/","title":{"rendered":"MGM Springfield: Casino, Resort, After-Hours Drinking Spot?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It looks like MA gamblers will be able to enjoy after-hours drinking at the casino when <strong>MGM Springfield<\/strong> opens at the end of August.<\/p>\n<p>Last call everywhere else in Springfield is at 2 a.m. However, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masslive.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2018\/06\/mgm_springfield_approved_by_ci.html\"><strong>Springfield City Council<\/strong><\/a> approved a proposal on Monday night allowing MGM Springfield to extend alcohol serving hours at the casino until <strong>4 a.m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>State lawmakers<\/strong> still need to approve the proposal. But if they do, gamblers on the casino floor will be able to continue drinking fo<strong>r two more hours<\/strong> after the traditional last call.<\/p>\n<p>The extended alcohol serving hours will <strong>only be available to gamblers on the casino floor<\/strong>. In fact, all MGM Springfield<strong> restaurants and bars<\/strong> will still be forced to observe a 2 a.m. last call for alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>Drinks served on the casino floor between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. will also be served in <strong>different cups<\/strong>. Alcohol sales will be prohibited from<strong> 4 a.m. to 8 a.m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"mgm_springfields_august_opening\">MGM Springfield\u2019s August opening<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>MGM announced in April that its <strong>$950 million <\/strong>MGM Springfield casino resort will open its doors on <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.mgmresorts.com\/mgm-resorts\/latest-news\/mgm-springfield-to-officially-open-august-24-2018.htm\">Friday,<strong> August 24<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Promising to be New England\u2019s first integrated luxury resort and entertainment destination, MGM Springfield will feature a boutique-style five-story <strong>hotel with 250 guestrooms<\/strong>, inspired by the historic significance of the area.<\/p>\n<p>The property will offer an array of food and beverage options, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cal Mare<\/strong> by James Beard Award-winning Chef <strong>Michael Mina<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Chandler Steak House<\/strong> with executive chef <strong>Meghan Gill<\/strong>, winner of <strong>Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/strong> season 14<\/li>\n<li>MGM\u2019s signature <strong>TAP Sports Bar<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>South End Market off Main Street<\/strong> casual dining experience<\/li>\n<li><strong>Starbucks<\/strong> coffee house<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span id=\"themassmutual_center\">The\u00a0MassMutual Center<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Entertainment on the property will center around the 8,000-seat <strong>MassMutual Center<\/strong>, MGM Springfield\u2019s official entertainment venue. It will house large-scale conventions, events,\u00a0and live entertainment. <strong>Stevie Wonder<\/strong> is scheduled to play MassMutual Center on Saturday, Sept. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Further entertainment options on the property include MGM Springfield\u2019s <strong>Topgolf Swing Suite<\/strong>, an eight-screen movie theater complex, and a 10-lane bowling center.<\/p>\n<p>MGM Springfield will also feature a spa and an 8,000-square-foot pool housed within a terraced rooftop garden.<\/p>\n<p>The property will also include close to 55,000 square feet of retail space. The resort\u2019s retail space will include an open-air plaza inspired by the classic New England town common. This space will feature an open-air marketplace hosting live events, local artisans, farmers markets and a seasonal outdoor ice rink.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"125000-square-foot_casino\">125,000-square-foot casino<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Finally, the property will include a 125,000-square-foot casino. The gaming floor will feature more than 2,550 slot machines and 120 gaming tables. Plus, a poker room and high-limit VIP gaming area.<\/p>\n<p>When it does open, MGM Springfield will be <a href=\"https:\/\/massgaming.com\/about\/mgm-springfield\/\">Massachusets\u2019 second commercial casino<\/a>. <strong>Penn National Gaming<\/strong> opened the <strong>Plainridge Park Casino<\/strong> in Plainville in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Expanded Gaming Act<\/strong>, passed by state lawmakers in 2011, also authorized the opening of a third commercial casino.
