Online poker broadcasting company, Poker Central<\/strong><\/a> has taken over the Poker Players Alliance<\/strong> (PPA) to create a re-branded poker lobbying organisation, the Poker Alliance<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The press release<\/a> explains that:<\/p>\n

\u201cPoker Alliance will be a dedicated voice for the millions of Americans who support expanding the sporting world of poker, in particular the players seeking to enjoy safe, well-regulated, and fair games in myriad locations and formats. The revamped association will prioritize advocating for consumer protection and states\u2019 rights in the context of poker and internet gaming.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Poker Alliance will bring \u201ca new kind of activism\u201d<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Poker Alliance says that the Supreme Court decision overturning the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act<\/strong> of 1992 (PASPA) means that \u201cthe sport of poker is ready for a new kind of activism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former PPA president Rich Muny<\/strong> will continue with the Poker Alliance as a member of the advisory board. He commented:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very optimistic about Poker Alliance\u2019s potential to bring new innovations and a different skill set to the fight for poker, serving its membership and consumers in general.
